Busy 24 hour period for @abqfire On Thursday, February 6, 2025, at approximately 6:22 AM, Albuquerque Fire Rescue was dispatched to 5202 Central Ave SW for reports of a possible structure fire at a single-family dwelling. Engine 7 arrived on the scene and reported a working fire with smoke and flames showing from a medium-sized shed behind the residence. Engine 7 stretched a hoseline for fire attack. Firefighters brought the blaze under control within 19 minutes. AFR announced that one civilian died from their injuries. No firefighter injuries were reported. The shed sustained significant fire and smoke damage and is uninhabitable. AFR’s Arson Division is investigating the cause. From Wednesday, February 5, at approximately 9:35 AM until 4:00 AM on Thursday, February 6, 2025, AFR was engaged in responding to multiple structure fires. On Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at approximately 9:37 AM, Albuquerque Fire Rescue was dispatched to 819 Palo Duro Ave NW for reports of a possible structure fire at a single-family dwelling. The initial report came from a caller stating a water heater explosion. Battalion 1 arrived on the scene and reported a working fire with smoke and flames showing from the structure. Fire crews initiated an aggressive interior attack, bringing the fire under control within 19 minutes. One civilian was transported to the hospital by Rescue 4, as of this publication, we do not know their condition. No firefighter injuries were reported. The residence sustained heavy fire and smoke damage and is uninhabitable. The fire is under investigation by AFR’s Arson Division. No additional information is currently available. At approximately 10:55 AM on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, Albuquerque Fire Rescue was dispatched to 902 Pacific Ave SW for reports of a possible structure fire at a boarded-up single-family dwelling. Engine 1 arrived on the scene and reported smoke and fire showing. Engine 1 stretched a hoseline for fire control and initiated a primary search. One patient was located outside the structure and was treated and transported to a local hospital by Albuquerque Ambulance. The fire was brought under control within 19 minutes. The patient’s condition is unknown at this time. No firefighter injuries were reported. The structure sustained significant smoke and fire damage and is uninhabitable. The cause of the fire is under investigation by AFR fire investigators. For this blaze, no further details are available at this time. Later that morning, at approximately 11:57 AM, Albuquerque Fire Rescue was dispatched to 310 Thaxton Ave SE for reports of a structure fire. Battalion 2 arrived on the scene and reported a fully involved shed fire. Engine 3 stretched a hoseline for defensive, exterior fire operations. Firefighters were able to contain the blaze, preventing damage to nearby exposures. The fire was brought under control within 19 minutes. No civilians or firefighters were injured. The shed was a total loss. The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental. There’s no additional information available on this particular fire at this time. On January 17, 2024, Albuquerque Fire Rescue responded to a fire at a single-family home at 308 Thaxton Ave SE. This location is next door to the site of a previous fire that occurred on Wednesday, February 5, 2025. At approximately 4:04 AM on Thursday, February 6, 2025, Albuquerque Fire Rescue was dispatched to the U Fashion Boutique, located at 2312 Central Ave SE, for a reported structure fire. Medic 3 arrived on the scene and reported a working fire with smoke showing from the roof. Engine 3 made entry but found no active fire inside. Ladder 1 laddered the building and discovered a telephone pole between occupancies on fire. Fire crews quickly extinguished the flames, bringing the incident under control within 15 minutes. According to AFR, the building sustained minor damage. No injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported. The cause of the fire is undetermined. Fire investigators responded to the scene. There is no further information is available at this time. AFR did state on their Facebook that two of the fires were accidental, and the two with injuries are still being investigated. The blaze where one person died, that is also still being investigated.
