Since Trump’s inauguration, several tribal citizens have reported being questioned and detained by ICE. “They walked us out to the parking lot and lined us up,” the woman said. “The actual feeling of being taken out… I’ve never prayed so hard in my life.”

Those reports coincided with a Justice Department filing that threw into question Native birthright citizenship, leading people to wonder whether the incidents with ICE are part of a larger attack on Indigenous Americans’ U.S. citizenship.
