New post telling a bit of the history behind ; why it only exists due to folks like
@georg_kreuzmayr
and
@ngeloxyz
; the explosion of systems meetups around the world; and encouragement and suggestions for future organizers!
Here's our official charter. This document will set up a framework for us to proceed as a community, and hopefully answers a lot of FAQs about talks, sponsorships, curators and their responsibilities, and more.
Do give it a read!
Up next,
@ptrCast
with a talk on the internals and implementation of a JIT interpreter - with perf comparisons and a code walkthrough of a hand-written JIT Engine!
Are you ready, Systems Enthusiasts of Bengaluru?
Speaking at our first-ever meetup on 6th July, we have:
@simsimsandy

🗓️ 28th September, Saturday.
📍Bangalore International Centre, Domlur.
Hope to catch y’all tomorrow!
And last but not least, for our first ever lightning talk, we had
@ShrinivasNavin
walk us through his journey implementing Fissure, a torrent client he built from scratch (in
@rustlang
!)
and we are live with our next meetup, this time in collaboration with Rust Bangalore and
@FOSSUnitedBLR
- this will be fun :D RSVP AS soon as possible!
First,
@simsimsandy
walked us through GPU architecture, optimizations, CUDA, and the challenges of running large ML models on GPUs, with a special look at the attention mechanism, KV-Cache optimizations, and PagedAttention!
Then, we had
@vivekgalatage
walk us through web browser architecture (with a focus on chromium), profiling, debugging, and various implementation challenges with a focus on security, taking a special look at the Spectre vulnerability.
and that's a wrap :D we hope to see many more of you folks at the next one, and we hope to see some more talks across a much larger variety of systems topics!
Until then, see you!
(PS Don't forget to join our telegram group and join our discussion on io_uring! link in bio)
We're also going to be putting in place a few basic guidelines, such as a code of conduct, rules regarding sponsorship, talk selection guidelines, and some guidelines for talk curators. More on that soon!
Let's make this happen, and learn more about these systems together! 🚀🚀
"The Browser Backstage: Performance vs Security" (): Join
@vivekgalatage
on a journey through web browser internals, performance, observability, and security exploits, with a focus on chromium-based browsers!
"Learn about the systems that power GenAI applications" (): Join
@simsimsandy
on a journey exploring the runtime environments of LLMs, and how we can squeeze as much perf as possible out of GPUs!
@thisizkp
seeing how both IndiaFOSS and Rust India run their communities on Telegram, and also given the fact that it's got a lower barrier to entry than Discord, telegram stood out as a good entrypoint.
@shrirambalaji
Hi Shriram! we have a slot for 20min or so still open, and the CFP will be open until 3PM tomorrow IST; however, not sure if we can do remote speakers.
