Fat Broadway actress here, opening a brand new musical today on Broadway, telling you that you and your talents are worthy of and meant to be seen!! I heard plenty of voices telling me no. It is so hard to block them out, but YOU are special & worth it! ❤️
Fatphobia in drama school is very real. I was just pulled aside and told that trying to do any lifts with me would be “a health and safety hazard” because the boys “could do their backs in”. It’s a joke. I am a capable dancer. If the choreo doesn’t work, make it more inclusive.

The constant battle to be seen as just a person, and not a fat person who needs justification for her existence (aka comments about her size)…it’s exhausting.
Writers and showrunners- take the jokes about weight out of your scripts. I promise they aren’t funny. And even if they were, they won’t hold up well. And even if they did, they’re unkind-either to your characters and actors or someone in your audience or crew. It’s not worth it.
