We are pleased to hear the latest news that Universal will hold a period of public engagement, welcoming feedback from our local communities, businesses, and other stakeholders.
The proposed project has the opportunity to be transformational for Bedford Borough.
We have set up COVID-safe emergency assistance centres at the Bedford International Athletic Stadium and Bromham Village Hall for those who have to evacuate due to flooding but do not have another location to go to at this time.

Bedford's Embankment is blooming with this season's planting. Thousands of bulbs and bedding plants including tulips, wallflowers, pansies and forget-me-nots bring riots of colour to our beautiful riverside

Flood warnings do remain in place. Do not walk or drive through floodwaters. Keep you and your families safe.

It may be impractical for them to stay at home alone or wear a mask.

An excavation on the edge of Biddenham has uncovered a number of fascinating archaeological features, which include middle-to-late Iron Age pits, an Anglo-Saxon building and what appears to be either an oven or a kiln.

We’ve turned Bedford’s bridges pink & blue to mark Baby Loss Awareness Week and join the wave of light to support individuals, families and charities helping those affected by the loss of a baby during pregnancy, during and after birth and in infancy.

This Saturday, Bedford Borough residents aged 18+ will be able to attend a walk in vaccination clinic at the Guru Nanak Temple between 1pm and 7pm.
There is no appointment needed, staff at the temple will be offering a vaccine to everyone who turns up.

The Bedford River Festival takes place this weekend, but the River Great Ouse’s place at the centre of life in Bedford is far older. The town originated on Beda’s Ford, a crossing place close to the current town bridge which was likely in use as far back as prehistory. 🧵

The Butterfly Bridge is open!
Works have now been completed with the grit blasting of the paint, maintenance paint of the lower elements and the cleaning of the higher elements. A new skid-resistant surface has also been added.

Recent archaeological work at the edge of Biddenham has uncovered exciting new historic sites, from those of the middle Iron Age, which add to a complex prehistoric past in the Loop, to the late Anglo-Saxon period, in a previously undiscovered phase of the medieval village.
The peak of the flood has passed through Bedford, but there are still floodwaters across the Borough.
