When raising concerns about patient care, I was repeatedly asked to attend mediation.
Sound familiar?

I would drop ‘leadership’. Too often if we rely on our leaders, we’re left disappointed. If our leaders aren’t actioning concerns, why should we? We need genuine partnership between managers and clinicians, and the ability to listen to each other, really listen.
Here we go....

is historic. So much hard work done by us since then. Patients and staff so much safer. Hope Lady Justice Thirlwall will take that into account in her inquiry.

@CQCpressoffice
how many exactly is a ‘minority’ in a Trust that employs >2,000 staff. Terrifying that this toxic culture of Execs prioritising reputation over patient safety continues despite the report of 2022. A responsive Trust? 🤔
Time for partnership between clinicians and managers. It’s time to approach each and every concern with an open mind, and without prejudice and assumption. It may save lives.

So where is the accountability we ask? Simply requesting a ‘culture review’ doesn’t quite cut it. Your leadership influences your culture. Your leadership has been reviewed and it’s not good enough for patients, it’s not good enough for staff
@TheChristieNHS
. Time for change .
Huge pressure on comms professionals to protect reputation at all costs; even when values are compromised. The Christie report revealed this can compromise patient safety & organisational integrity when reputation management is the core purpose of comms rather than communication.
External facing:
We thank the RN for raising concerns; we care for our staff.
Internal facing:
She’s a liar.
Undertone; and we’ll call all of you liars too if you raise concerns.
And people are shocked when they learn that the NHS culture is toxic for whistleblowers?! 🤦🏻♂️
@susie_dent
‘We are where we are’ said flippantly by senior NHS managers
@TheChristieNHS
when indirectly admitting that ignoring my patient safety concerns had led to one almighty crisis. As if to say. . . Oh well. . . Next?
Simple but thought provoking . . The sad fact is it’s usually because delirium is poorly understood, and there isn’t the resources to manage delirium well in hospital, such as HCPs with the knowledge, skills and simply time to manage delirium well . We must strive to do better

I can only imagine she has
1. Never received an egg in decades of service and is feeling undervalued and basically this was the egg that broke the chicken’s back

refute my claims, so let’s clear this up. . .
@TheChristieNHS
, please answer truth or false to the following claims in this thread 🧵. . . 👇
@ProfDonnaHall
If you could see the internal positive toxicity that has been put on show to
@TheChristieNHS
staff since the CQC report, you would be sad but not shocked. Via forums, letters, grand rounds- it has everything- gaslighting, denial, flippancy, even mockery of the CQC
‘What accountability is there for senior managers…?’
Health Sec. Steve Barclay to MP Rachael Maskell who calls for a safe place for NHS staff to whistleblow, following Newsnight’s investigation into the culture at University Hospitals Birmingham
Very uncomfortable watch to see

standing beside Israeli officials whilst they relentlessly bomb thousands of innocent people in Gaza
NEW:
Understand CQC have gone into Bolton unannounced today - after getting specific concerns about children & young people's services
A formal review of the trust's leadership has also been scheduled for next month, in response to concerns from whistleblowers.
6. The AHP LEAD attended the forum of her own staff
7. The ASSOCIATE CHIEF NURSE, alongside the LEAD NURSE for QUALITY and STANDARDS and DIVISIONAL HEAD of NURSING attended the nurse forum which the CQC admitted they weren’t aware they were attending
@CQCpressoffice
1. The forums were organised by Christie senior managers
2. Only SELECTED staff received an email invite to forums
3 Staff had to give their NAME to attend
Sometimes I wonder if “whistleblowers” were renamed “speak up champions” would we be treated differently? Organisations could stop spending public money on multiple lawyers, crisis comms professionals, nondisclosure agreements & just listen; really listen to what staff experience
4. The forums were held in TRUST-HQ, in GLASS-WALLED ROOMS, with a small max capacity, despite the auditorium being empty
5. The Chief Nurse and Deputy Chief Nurse did a “WALK-BY” at the beginning of the junior nurse forum
@KenZeroHarm
Too often hierarchy is used to control and quash those lower in the structure. Hierarchy can be used positively, too often, it isn’t. Partnership = equality.

Woah woah Giles, my comment was made in JEST (hence 🤣 emoji)
I was merely trying to understand how anyone could be so brazen as take an Easter egg from under the nose of its owner.
@Doc_IonaCollins
Front door Frailty teams are providing exceptional care to elderly frail patients, alongside their community ER teams, matrons & geriatricians- frail patients are being cared for at home, or turned around quicker from the front door & reducing LOS. I see this every day
