@randomyoko Yes. If you’re middle class, then you can afford it. So, if you really wanted to donate money, then you would do it. Saying ‘if I was rich…’ is just an excuse not to do it. Also, you’re assuming the elderly couple were rich, when perhaps they just wanted to do something nice.

@hellomotorbike And why should he? He’s worked hard and earned it. Also, over half of those on the housing waiting list live in private accommodation, but lack the means to stay there. Perhaps the answer is to remove regulations and free up land to allow more private accommodation to be built.

@MandyRuss3ll @buildmoreethans Wait and see when all the candidates are announced, but Tory Whanau should not even be running again. I don’t understand how she was voted in in the first place. She lacked experience and the skill set necessary to run a local council.

@NanaiaMahuta You do realize that they are part of the Realm of NZ, right?!? To be frank, I’m completely flabbergasted by your opinion here.

Ryan Bridge making a lot of sense on KO. Interesting point: more than half on housing wait list are in private accommodation, but lack the means to stay there. As Ryan argues, let’s aid the private sector to build more rentals. Problem solved. #nzpol

Interesting. Former Labour MP praising the National govt and saying Phil Twyford doesn’t understand economics. Never thought I’d see the day. Great stuff. Have a listen: #nzpol

@aniobrien Yep, I think you nailed it. I appreciate Seymour was doing his job, but he knows better than to get involved in an active police investigation.

@therealgregjack @WhiteStarPrime Nothing is baked in. The general public not following politics at present, but instead just looking for someone to blame because their situations aren’t exactly great at the moment. Once the economy starts to improve, then the needle will shift back towards National & Co.

@Papaioeajake So, your basic argument is that the government should be subsidizing Wellington? I mean, that is basically what you’re arguing 🤨🤯

Wellingtonians, can you please put your ideology aside when you vote for the next mayor and instead vote for the person who you truly think will be the best fit for the job. #nzpol
The mood in Wellington: * 27% right direction, 54% wrong direction * 15% Council performing well, 51% Council performing poorly * 17% Mayor performing well, 46% Mayor performing poorly Of interest is that 2023 Labour voters are -27%, -36% and -26% on the three measures. 1/2
