@KobanPunished That's not always true, but I think I know what you mean. A lot of more recent games try to make the coloration and the skybox realistic, but due to the tech limitations on old games, they often just had a solid dark/cool color to reinforce the environmental feel.

@megigogi It's also hilarious considering how squad-based modern warfare is, and how increasingly drone-based the fighting is getting. So even in the like 3% chance you end up in cqc, you're just going to get shot by the guy anyway, or his 3 buddies if you get him.
