@ralpha060461 I don’t think we should judge any single piece of the puzzle until about Christmas. Far too many variables all changing at once to be able to judge any single input. Good job they’re all 21/22 years old because they may actually be a team by the time they grow up.

@DefiantLs Not quite. If he’s already selected her based on her competence then teases the unveiling by mentioning her colour then she’s not been selected because of her colour. It’s clearly not the DEFINITION of DEI. We all know that’s BS though because she isn’t competent.

@Dr0P1loT It doesn’t take revisionism to know Gallagher should never have been sold.
He’s not a Rolls Royce. He’s a Subaru Impreza. Help snarl, look a bit raggedy but he’ll do the job in difficult conditions. He’ll never be a 10/10 in anything he does but he’ll be an 8/10 week in, week out. People will name our “Best 11” in 12 months time and ignore Gallagher but he’ll still have more appearances than the rest of them.

@AdameMedia It’s in his “Dumb stuff I’ve ever done” thread. He recognises it as such. Should someone who said dumb stuff 15 years ago and apologised not be able to critique Kanye’s action TODAY?

@matthewstoller @krystalball You mean like MAGA co-opted this famous right wingers RFK and Gabbard? You mean the same Sanders who endorsed Hilary “Goldman and Sachs” Clinton? If Warren and Sanders weren’t morally bankrupt maybe you’d have a point.

It never ceases to amaze me that 70 years later we’re talking about the offspring of 750,000 Muslim refugees from Mandate Palestine but no one mentions the 900,000 Jews expelled from Muslim majority countries in the years since the formation of Israel. One load remain an anti Zionist political pawn the other are fully integrated into Israeli society.

@PhilWMagness @DanielJHannan Poppycock and you know better Hannah. There is and always will be upside. Whether that upside is worth the cost is another matter but to say there are NO upsides is either disingenuous or ignorant. Liars or fools. The Tories Circa 2024/25.

Think Grok can answer that one; The connection between Zoe Quinn and Donald Trump's election is rooted in the Gamergate controversy, which is often cited as a precursor to broader political movements and cultural shifts leading to the 2016 U.S. presidential election. Here's how this escalation is generally understood: 1. **Gamergate Begins**: In 2014, Zoe Quinn, an indie game developer, became the initial target of what would become known as Gamergate. This started after her ex-boyfriend, Eron Gjoni, wrote and published an extensive blog post accusing her of unethical behavior, specifically alleging she traded sexual favors for positive game reviews, which was later debunked. This accusation sparked widespread online harassment against Quinn and other women in gaming who were seen as advocates for diversity and inclusivity. 2. **Expansion and Misogyny**: The harassment campaign under the hashtag #Gamergate grew beyond Quinn to target other women in the gaming industry, journalists, and critics advocating for social justice in gaming. While ostensibly about ethics in game journalism, it became a rallying point for misogyny, harassment, and opposition to what some participants saw as "political correctness" in gaming culture. 3. **Cultural and Political Convergence**: Gamergate was one of the early examples where online harassment campaigns intersected with broader political and cultural movements. The tactics used — like doxxing (revealing personal information), spreading misinformation, and coordinated harassment — were precursors to similar strategies used in political campaigns. - **Connection to the Alt-Right**: Gamergate attracted and emboldened groups that would later coalesce into the "alt-right," a loosely organized far-right movement. This group became more politically active, with some of its members and tactics becoming part of the broader support for Trump's candidacy. - **Mobilization and Media Manipulation**: The methods of online mobilization, the use of memes, and the manipulation of media narratives seen in Gamergate were mirrored in Trump's campaign. The controversy helped normalize aggressive online behavior and the dismissal of traditional media as biased, which was a significant theme in Trump's campaign. 4. **Influence on Voter Sentiment**: The disillusionment with media, the internet's role in politicizing previously apolitical demographics (like young male gamers), and the creation of echo chambers where extremist views could flourish all contributed to the political climate that favored Trump's message. Posts on X have reflected sentiments suggesting that Gamergate's impact on young men's political engagement might have played a role in shifting voter demographics. 5. **Trump's Election**: While Gamergate was not the sole cause, it's argued that it contributed to a broader cultural shift: - It helped normalize certain forms of online aggression and misinformation. - It brought into the political sphere individuals who were previously not politically engaged but were galvanized by the cultural issues Gamergate raised. - The controversy highlighted how internet culture could influence real-world politics, with tactics and narratives from Gamergate finding their way into the political discourse that supported Trump's candidacy. In summary, the link from Zoe Quinn to Trump's election involves a complex web of cultural backlash, internet mobilization, and the evolution of online tactics into political campaigning.

@FelixJohnston_ It’s been a theme for months now. Slow, ponderous and pained football, hoping for Palmer to dig them out of a hole. Between hoping for fouls and tactically breaking up counters we’ve been using the Referee as an 11th man for months. Yes. I meant 11th.

@Joey1800callme Seeing as they’ve already jailed millions of Muslims with a sizable contingent willing to join terror groups they may not be so enamoured with adding to that number.

@libsoftiktok He was in a very partisan crowd. I’m sure if she went to a WNBA game the entire crowd would have cheered. All 6 of them.
