@tudormaille Fear kept me in Mormonism for decades. It took me years to realize that if God existed—and was truly worthy of worship—He wouldn’t punish me for making choices I believed were best for myself.

@stackerco A couple of years. I made the official decision I was out about 5 years ago and the first 2-3 years were really hard and then it’s just gotten better and better.

@The_Real_TROM I think having a community helps. I had one friend who had left before me and she didn’t experience the fallout like I did so I felt like I was going crazy. It was nice to discover, I wasn’t alone in my experience.

@Jenn_NextDoor RELATABLE. I was unmarried and struggling to understand my purpose in life if I wasn’t a wife or mother. I couldn’t complain about this without being chastised for lacking faith, or focusing too much on life and not eternity. So I learned to project a facade of happiness.
