I wrote to the PM yesterday to tell him I felt unable to be a Conservative Candidate. I have considered very carefully what is best to do and will stand as an Independent Candidate at the next General Election. #AnnesStillStanding

I was disappointed that Treasury Questions were postponed this week due to Parliament being prorogued. On Monday, I wrote to @sajidjavid and @BorisJohnson to put some urgent questions to them regarding the Loan Charge.

I am equally lost - and what happened to washing hands. ?.
Got to be honest, I've no idea what Government guidance is on anything any more. Masks. Distancing. Numbers of friends you can meet. When and where you can meet them. Going back to work. None of it. Clear Ministers have basically given up on trying to agree a coherent line.

Someone told me that an apprenticeship is about learning to do good job well. The apprentices I have met this week have demonstrated exactly that - well done to them all! #NAW2018.

Much sympathy for @Sandbach - it is surely not right to see someone who voted for a deal to leave the EU on 3 occasions and has always discharged her duties as an MP with integrity and honesty facing a situation such as this.

All children will need to catch up. Yet again 16-18 year olds are denied the funding they need. Equal opportunity for all children will get this country back on its feet. Warm words don’t cut it unless backed up by funding.
On @Channel4News this evening, @AoCDavidH made clear that young people in colleges deserve the same funding for catch up that their peers in schools. 700,000 of the million 16 to 18 year olds study in college. any scheme that ignores them is doomed to fail.

People are fed up with party political squabbling that has left our country in limbo. Standing as an independent to give people a choice - experienced and moderate.
Big piece by @johnharris1969: are liberal, remainer #Tory heartlands, like #Guildford being fought by @AnneMilton as an independent, moving permanently away from them? Cameron’s modernisers spoke to their values, #Boris & the #ERG’s hard Bre*it doesn’t

Spot on. There are often warm words spoken about vocational qualifications but also vague feeling that people don’t think they are ‘for me or my family’. Tough to shift the intellectually snobbery but we must - these young people and adults will give us the skills we need.
"People only talk about A Levels when more are taking quals like #BTECs. They have a practical focus on getting people into work but are also used to go onto Higher Education. There is a definitely snobbery we need to overcome in this country" - @AoCDavidH live on @thismorning.

There is no place for party politics in a skills led recovery. We have fantastic FE Collleges and independent training providers standing ready - and we need Government to move fast @AoC_info @AELPUK.
There is genuine cross party support for our #SkillsLedRecovery plan. We have Tory and Labour MPs and Mayors, and LEPs from Newquay to Newcastle calling for the prioritisation of skills, education and training to avoid the mistakes of past recessions.

Words fail me. The need to make this decision should surely not come as a surprise and shouldn’t require thousands having to sign petitions!!.
Amazing numbers signing this overnight - up close to 50,000 now - shows how important it is for @educationgovuk @GillianKeegan to review decision urgently this morning & call off these exams (which start tomorrow)

This sort of misplaced, outdated snobbery needs tackling at every opportunity - well done @worldskillsuk.
74% of young people told us they think snobbery still exists around apprenticeships and technical education, which is why we're tackling vocational snobbery head on by proudly promoting the benefits of technical careers

Not only do apprenticeships change people’s lives - they give businesses the skilled work force they need. Time and time again I heard business leaders say that success in their business was down to the apprentices they employed.
“The apprenticeship has improved everything in my life," says Morgan Wardle in @thesundaytimes. Supported by grade 1 @Ixionholdings, Morgan did a traineeship and is now an apprentice at @The_Banks_Group - more here:

Colleges give people a chance to learn the skills the country needs and gives many a 2nd or 3rd chance in education and training. Colleges need the funding that reflects the critical role they play in building the economy. @AoC_info @AoCDavidH #MindTheSkillsGap.
@YouGov @MattWestern_ @MargaretFerrier This is just the start of more campaigning for fair FE funding, a joined up national skills strategy and proper access to lifelong learning. Join in the conversation and keep momentum going using #MindTheSkillsGap.

Its rather stating the obvious but if education and training is a priority for Gov levels of pay for those that teach needs to be at equal levels post 16 irrespective of the institution in which it takes place @AoC_info @AoCDavidH @AELPUK.
“Poor pay is now holding back colleges from offering training and skills because they cannot recruit and retain people to teach" - @AoCDavidH in today’s article by the @Guardian as teaching unions in England begin talks with government. Read more here:

Apprenticeships are truly amazing! I have heard hundreds of inspiring - often moving stories - from both apprentices and their employers. Thanks go not only to the employers but also to @AELPUK and @AoC_info without whom the training wouldn’t be possible.
Mike Goodall, Development manager @fsb_policy chats about why now might be the perfect time to think about apprenticeships. "After all, they benefit both the individual apprentice and their employer".
