I’m at
@NorthMidNHS
with a neighbour who has not urinated for more than 24 hours, has a high temperature and looks like he has a severe urine infection. He can’t walk and is barely able to speak. Getting anyone to see him has been VERY difficult.
For all you
#LouisTomlinson
fans, here is a few minutes ago singing his new single live on the BBC Piazza ahead of his
@OneShow
appearance tonight on
@BBCOne
at 7pm. You’re welcome x
So I asked the receptionist, what should we do. Let him die? Is that the right course of action. Her response was, “I doubt if I’d be treated in his country!” So again I asked, “ should we just let him die then?”
Is that what we’ve come to?
@NorthMidNHS
I don’t know if he is or not. But I DO know the man needs emergency medical attention before it becomes sepsis if it hasn’t already. He is in agony. So my priority is to try to make sure he doesn’t die. This isn’t going to solve itself without a catheter and antibiotics.
I am so angry and heartbroken to hear of the three beautiful women killed in a crossbow attack last night in Bushey. The fact this has happened to a BBC colleague is horrific. My thoughts are with him and his family right now and all the women at the mercy of violent men.
@NorthMidNHS
I’m a huge supporter of our amazing NHS and of this hospital, which has treated my son for asthma many times and my dad when he collapsed on a visit from Manchester. But at this moment I can’t help feeling politics is getting in the way of emergency healthcare.
@NorthMidNHS
I’ve had to push and push and push to get a nurse to look at him, which thankfully they are doing now. If he didn’t have anyone to push for him, he would almost certainly have been sent away.
@NorthMidNHS
Are we really prepared to turn someone in acute medical need away if they don’t have the right paperwork? Inability to urinate for days is a medical emergency, requiring immediate treatment.
This is because he does not have a British Passport or NHS number as far as I am aware. An ambulance has already refused to come for him. So I filled in the form to the best of my ability and i have had a lecture about how he might be charged if he’s here illegally.
@NorthMidNHS
They are reluctant to let a doctor look at him at all as far as I can tell. The nurse seems to have no clue, keeps getting all the information wrong and seems satisfied that he has no irons in his bladder even though he hasn’t urinated for more than 24 hours..
@NorthMidNHS
Any medical professionals on here got any idea how serious this may be? No urine output since yesterday morning, has vomited, unable to eat or drink anything, severe pain back and front right abdomen. Groaning and can barely walk to get out of wheelchair to try to go to toilet
@NorthMidNHS
And I understand this. My point is that I was told he could not be seen because he did not have an NHS number or British passport or GP. Had I not been there to advocate I’m pretty certain he would have been sent away.
@carlafrancome
@NorthMidNHS
I think I’ve now left him in safe hands with a doctor who knows what he’s doing, and is putting him on a fluid and morphine drip. 🤞
@Nataliefe77
@NorthMidNHS
I have repeatedly mentioned Sepsis. My dad had it twice and it started with a urine infection. The second time he did not come back from it.😕
@NorthMidNHS
I had to challenge the receptionist to get her to allow him to be seen by a medical professional. She would have sent him away if I hadn’t.
@ShamWez
@NorthMidNHS
Agreed. But this is an emergency and it shouldn’t matter where he is from, he needs medical help, now. Someone should not be turned away from frontline emergency care for not having the right paperwork.
“Fair pay for nurses” is the chant outside Great Ormond Street Hospital where nurses have braved temperatures of -5*c to be out on the picket line.

This is what Columbia Rd looks like in the morning. Loads of people walking and cycling. Will the decision by TH Council last night mean all this will stop and cars will come back?
There are 50 installations in six key areas. Some of it will be pedestrianised and walking is the best way to see the festival. And the best thing is,it’s totally free!

Marks and Spencer’s flagship Oxford St store gets a stay of execution for now: government steps in to ‘block’ the demolition of the Art Deco building. There were plans to knock it down and turn it into a modern building with smaller shops apartments and a gym.

There seems to be a reluctance to let a doctor see him. I’m concerned they’ll try to given him a couple of paracetamol and try to chuck him out.
Thinking of the family and friends of those who perished in the

What about the comment about her doubting she’d get treated in his country? Irrelevant and unprofessional some might say. Luckily I recorded the conversation.

Utterly brilliant, compelling drama about Ireland’s horrific and all-too-recent history. It’s always women who suffer. Thinking of those who have never found their children or for whom it was too late.💔
Pleased to read the judgment this afternoon from Mr Justice Eyre concerning the Fox Lane LTN where each of the grounds and the claim made against the Council were dismissed.
I hope it reassures residents that the Council took a balanced view when making the Fox Lane LTN permanent

I think it’s more about losing the historic building itself rather than a change of use of said building, plus the carbon footprint of demolishing and rebuilding rather than retro fitting..
