Come for Audi Crooks vs. Cameron Brink, get an all-timer duel between Emily Ryan and Kiki Iriafen.
Do you realize how healthy the game is that this is possible now?
One thing about having taken college classes on race, poverty, etc. is that 90 percent of the realizations white folks are having right now are ones I paid to learn 8-10 years ago.
The people who went to bed thinking of Trevor Lawrence as a brave voice for athletes and wake up to him as a union leader are gonna take it really well.
And on the other end of it, I think lot of this stuff could be taught in high school curricula were it not for states' restrictions on one side and AP/IB/etc. tests on the other. It's not particularly complex with the right syllabus and teacher.
Can't act brand new about disenfranchisement when you wrote a 20-page paper tracing it from Reconstruction to the present. Hard to pretend poverty isn't a legitimate medical issue when you've read the research backstopping that idea.

If this narc calls out the soda thief in person rather than anonymously on the Internet, the best justice is winging the narc with the can, right?
It boggles the mind that there are people who are going to learn who Breonna Taylor was via Scottie Scheffler getting arrested. But this is an absolutely true thing that is going to happen for some people!
In the legendarily durable Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's 15th NBA season, he never scored more than 35 points in either the regular season or playoffs.
LeBron is averaging 33.8 points per game in these playoffs, and has scored 35+ eight times.
Fran Fraschilla: "There are some of my coaching friends that think transfers are good because the car's already paid for."
(pregnant pause)
PBP: "So to speak?"
Fran: "So to speak."
Possible corollary to the

theory that basically every politician looks like a college basketball coach: 90+% of former Confederate state Governors have the names of QBs who could throw for 300 yards and three picks in a shocking 24-13 loss to Vanderbilt.
1) If NC State wanted to be a No. 1 seed somewhere other than Bridgeport, it could have simply had a better season than South Carolina, Stanford, and Louisville. There was a regional an hour away from its campus.
Favorite tidbit of the always-fun coaches' final ballots from the coaches' poll: Only one coach, Middle Tennessee's Rick Stockstill, had UCF among the top four.
And former UCF coach Scott Frost? He only had UCF at No. 5.
If you’re celebrating Dave Portnoy being banned from Twitter, that says something about you as a person.
Specifically, that we should probably be friends.
Sabrina Ionescu made approximately $87K in base salary this year. A $2K fine is 2.3 percent of that.
Consider that a 2.3 percent fine for, say, Damian Lillard ($45.6M salary) would be over a million dollars.
Every SEC school that sponsors softball has made the 2024 NCAA Tournament.
Eight of those 13 schools will host regionals.
The two teams joining the SEC next year are the No. 1 and No. 2 overall seeds.
Occurs to me that Ryan Clark has extraordinary experience with wages of football and fame: Played alongside Sean Taylor, laid a crushing/concussing blow on Willis McGahee, hospitalized — and held out! — due to sickle-cell trait, father of a college player.
Perspective. It shows.
Another short list for you! This one is all-time Super Bowl comebacks from deficits of 10 or more points.
- Tom Brady: 2
- Patrick Mahomes II: 2
- Every other NFL team combined: 2
This is “uncharted waters” only if we are limiting our experiences to being physically present for something like this.
Eric LeGrand. Ryan Shazier. Keyontae Johnson. Most tragically, Hank Gathers.
We have been here.
These young men do not all need to have the worst moments of their lives be mentioned during the best moments of their lives, especially if they're simply tragedies and not mistakes germane to their professional careers.
Stop this shit,
@ESPN
.
Football players to have been named NFL MVP and Super Bowl MVP at least twice each:
- Tom Brady
- Joe Montana
- Patrick Mahomes II
A short list. And one guy on it is 27 years old.

Multiple teams have had seasons abbreviated by fatal plane crashes, lest we forget. This is a uniquely painful end, but it is fortunately likely to be far more farcical than fatal.
I don't care how many Congresspeople profited off a pandemic. I don't care whether they're Democrats or Republicans. If they did this, they should be impeached, recalled, prosecuted, convicted, and jailed.
Enough with the beach-scolding! It's not scientifically-sound and it's counterproductive. It's a virus—not a moral agent geared to smite people who dare enjoy themselves. Six months in, we *know* most risk is indoors. More knowledge, less baseless outrage.
The “fans will cherish sports post-COVID” theory has never accounted for the idea that way, way too many fans treat sports as a service industry — and athletes, by extension, as service workers they can abuse.
a fan threw popcorn at russ. someone spit on trae young. apparently fans were kicked out for heckling ja morant’s family in utah. i rescind my “it’s great to have arenas with fans again” tweets.
Personally, I wouldn’t run for office anywhere in this country and fix my face to say or fingers to type “barely anyone works multiple jobs,” but I am just not this committed to posting.
A complete lie about the economy. Barely anyone works multiple jobs, and bottom earners have done much better in the last four years than the top earners. It doesn't matter, celebrities like McKay mechanically repeat it, it gets hundreds of thousands of views, many believe it.
I struggle to comprehend how distraught this family must be right now. To beseech authorities for help protecting a family member from himself, get effectively none, and then have that person destroy lives including his own?

LeBron has, we can almost all agree, dragged a very flawed team to the ultimate stage by giving Herculean effort throughout these playoffs.
Now, one eye crimsoned, one ankle tweaked, and the best team ever assembled on the other side, he's been great ... and it's not enough?
Primary owners of teams CP3 has played for as an NBA player: George Shinn, the NBA itself, Donald Sterling, Steve Ballmer, Clay Bennett, Tilman Fertitta, Robert Sarver.
That's ... a lot.
And Chris Paul…playing through the New Orleans tragedy shuttling to OKC, suffering Sterling and now this? The degree of difficulty on what has been a Hall of Fame career is staggeringly impressive.
Very much looking forward to the fans who never watch college sports other than football and men’s basketball suddenly becoming major proponents of Title IX.
Steve Kerr's grandfather left an Army biochemist job to be part of the relief efforts after the Armenian genocide, too.
Steve speaking up is only a little flicker of the family torch.
Loyola's next 12 months:
- Pay whatever it costs to keep Porter Moser
- Add a surprising grad transfer forward who wants to play with Custer/Krutwig/Townes
- Get absolutely no give w/r/t scheduling
- Go 30-5 or something anyway
- Get No. 8/9 seed
- Lose in second round

It was basically "What will you tell her about this?" And I agree with Dave that men would not be asked that question, but it struck me as germane in context precisely because Serena brought up her daughter on the court as an explanation for why she doesn't cheat.
The thing about this: LSU doesn’t win this title without Alexis Morris, whom Mulkey kicked off her Baylor team after an arrest, then welcomed back to her LSU team after transfers (and another arrest elsewhere).
So she HAS been there. For some of them. When she needs them.

You settle in for the fourth quarter of the Eastern Conference Semifinals on May 11, 2023. Your Sixers have stormed back from 16 down and are 12 minutes from vanquishing the Celtics. Jayson Tatum is 1-for-14. You have allowed yourself to hope.
Florida just took fifteen rounds of body shots in Rupp Arena from a Kentucky team that can win it all, stayed alive at the bell — and won the sixteenth and seventeenth rounds.
Among the 20 most impressive regular season wins in the history of the program.
Yet much more to do.
Seriously. For everyone saying how dumb this was, this is how all these engineered hoaxes made it into the mainstream to begin with. What these exact same people did to Seth Rich's family after his murder was just unconscionable and so ridiculous, but it worked. And now you see.

I’m glad someone else noticed. The camera is two feet away and it’s still plausible that the guitar was raptured or chucked to Valhalla.
I know Travis Hunter is his own (hopefully now well-insured) dude, but his luck this season with humans colliding with him at high rates of speed makes me want him to sit out until his first NFL snap. You need intact ribs and functional internal organs, at some point.
@curlyfro
The mind reels at what someone with legitimate brain function could sincerely believe it to be about otherwise. Courage in the face of adversity that definitely had nothing to do with race?
Dawn Staley said Flau'jae Johnson came up to her after the game and apologized to her, and said she's not that type of player. Staley appreciated Johnson apologizing and wanted to share publicly
Sure would be a shame if players exploited by college football learned that they don’t really need to grind themselves to dust over full college football careers to play professionally.

It’s not funny in the sense that he’s right and it’s pernicious, but it’s funny as delivered — and he’s intending it to be truth you can laugh at, no?
