NEWS: The WNBA has announced Year 1, a four-episode docuseries that focuses on four rookies - Angel Reese, Kamilla Cardoso, LA's Rickea Jackson and Seattle's Nika Muhl - featuring behind-the-scene looks during key events.
A fun part of today was
@AnnieCostabile
asking Dana about this TikTok, specifically her face after Chennedy's backflip.
This team has no shortage of personalities.
The key events in question are: the WNBA Draft, WNBA Training Camp, their first WNBA Games, WNBA All-Star Weekend, the Olympic Break, the second half of the season, end of the season and playoffs.
It'll be available on the WNBA app and YouTube. It debuts today.
Kobe Brown (
@TheKobe24Brown
) made the decision to stay in the 2023 NBA Draft today.
In an open letter to the Mizzou and Columbia community, he shares his thanks and gratitude.
So, I just counted it out.
All players were assessed personal fouls, so that makes 157 players that were given personal fouls.
One hundred and fifty seven.
#Mizzou
has earned its highest College Football Ranking on Tuesday, slotting in at No. 12.
At 7-1, the committee has taken notice.
Here’s what that means for Mizzou:
Morning. Just want to say that today is my last day with Gannett after 5 years total, with the last 2.5 being at the Columbia Tribune as its sports editor.
To say the least, it was a tumultuous 2.5 years but I wouldn't trade it considering how much I've learned.
Just finished my first week as a digital sports producer at
@fox32news
where I’ll be writing original stories covering Chicago sports and leading multimedia & streaming efforts.
So exited to get going, aside from the massive blizzard that welcomed me this AM.
Love the comments saying we had a disappointing season and glad to see the seniors go. I can assure you, we gave it our all. We should’ve won, but just because we didn’t doesn’t mean you get to hide behind a screen and belittle us for still accomplishing things you never could.
Hello friends, today is my first day as the Sports Editor/AME with the
@columbiatribune
. I'll be overseeing preps, working with
@ByEricBlum
on Mizzou coverage and annoying the general population with puns.
Hit me with any and all story ideas at CKwiecinsk

Grace Slaughter was named the Gatorade girls basketball player of the year after a high scoring career.
She came back from an ACL tear to be the best player in Missouri.
FINAL: Team WNBA 117, Team USA 109
Team WNBA’s second-straight win over Team USA.
Angel Reese: first rookie All-Star Game double-double.
Arike Ogunbowale:
How much does a bowl game mean?
Right after they celebrated with the trophy, here are all the players that ran over to the student section to celebrate with their families in attendance.
Former Tolton star Aaron Rowe played 21 minutes in Link Academy’s win over Mizzou signee Trent Pierce and AZ Compass to win the GEICO Nationals.
Rowe is a 4-star PG in the class of ‘25, but he’ll be a 5-star by the time his prep career is over. Mizzou offered him last summer.
Just finished up filing some college football stories, and that's that.
Today was my last day at The Spectrum. I'm grateful to have learned how to be a better sports reporter the last two and a half years. Thanks, southern Utah.
Mizzou men’s basketball has three four-star signees in the class of 2023, but Mizzou women’s basketball has three McDonald’s All-American nominees:
Skylar Jones
Grace Slaughter
Hannah Linthacum
Really, really good recruiting class for Robin Pingeton.
Angel Reese hits her first-career 3-pointer near the end of the first half. She leads the Sky with 16 points.
The Sky are such a different team with her off the court.
A short stop in Indy reminded me how lucky I am.
Grateful for the acknowledgement from
@APSE_sportmedia
, for the support from every friend, colleague, editor and mentor in the biz, and every lesson from
@bradleyu
and
@MedillSchool
.
Year two in Columbia is next.
Damn good win for Mizzou. If you're keping count, Mizzou:
Closed on a 22-9 run,
Erased a 10-point deficit late,
Now has wins over Illinois, Kentucky and Arkansas.
That should be remembered come March.
I really respect what you do, Stewart, but you oversee three or four dozens of beats people work their careers for but never get.
Sports journalism is dying because dozens of dailies don’t have a local sports writer, let alone a sports editor. That’s where we need to be better.
Don’t be fooled by the cranky “sports journalism is dying” tweets. The future has never been brighter, because the talent I’ve seen coming out of colleges over the past several years has never been stronger.
MY NEW HOME!!!! So excited for this opportunity to continue my education and softball career at Mizzou and be apart of this amazing program. SEC here I come!! 💛
@MizzouSoftball
Asked Dennis Gates about Aidan Shaw last Friday and he issued a collective challenge: follow the mold Kobe Brown set.
If Shaw does that, he’ll push Mizzou MBB to the next level.
My column:
Last weekend, cancer stole my grandpa from me. The Fourth of July was special to him, and on today of all days I'm thinking about him.
I tried writing through it.
It’s been over one year since Hadestown won the Tony for Best Musical, and you can’t convince me it’s not one of the best musicals we’ve been given in the past 20+ years.
Thank you,
@anaismitchell
.
The context makes it better: Poland had a point taken off and Aleksandra Jarecka had four seconds to tie it. Jarecka tied it and won it in OT. It’s Poland’s first-ever fencing medal and second medal of the Games.
I’m crying too.
Mizzou announces “Mizzou Madness” where fans can get a live look at both the mens and womens basketball teams come Sept. 30.
Not Mizzou Arena, though. A court will be on the Francis Quadrangle in front of the Columns and Jesse Hall.
Just filed my last story for the Tribune. It’s 1,400+ words on the 1993-1994 Mizzou men’s basketball team. It’ll run at some point in the future.
Until then, ✌️
This is also probably a good time to note I’m now working for the
@SpectrumNews
covering sports for the southern region of Utah.
Today was my first day, so if you see me say hi!
Some personal news: my building's janitor informed me scorpions frequently sneak into our newsroom so therefore I will do my work remotely from a blimp 30,000 feet in the air.
Mayor Tannehill just announced the square will have free parking after 5 p.m. from now until New Year’s Day, as well as free parking all day Christmas Eve.
Revel in it, Oxford.
Seven home games later, that’s all she wrote from year three of Mizzou football at Faurot from myself.
@C_McAndrew95
,
@landwehr_abby
and I thank you for reading the Trib.
For the first time in four years, I was able to celebrate thanksgiving at home and cook for my fam. Was just as fun as I remembered.
Hope y’all has as much fun as I did.
This is a PSA for Ryan Poles:
@spiceadams
stays ready.
He let us know he's ready to give the Bears some depth at DT during a presser at Bubba Wallace's Block Party at Douglass Park this afternoon.
Brian Wardle hugs Chris Reynolds, who has done one of the best AD jobs in America rebuilding that program the last few years.
This is the pinnacle. Congrats
@BUBrianWardle
and
@ChrisReynoldsAD
.
A cool quote from one of SUU's most successful coaches on staff, when it comes to SUU switching between conferences.
"This is the third one I've been in,"
@SUUFB
coach Demario Warren said. "We've won championships at everyone."
In 2019, SUU graduated remaining players from the Robinson era. Last year, SUU graduated transfers that helped the program win.
Yesterday, SUU honored three of the best T-Birds in program history.

Senior Day:
Mentality from tweet one directly correlates into crux of the issue tweet two is trying to shed awareness about.
Men in sports media: Be. Better. It’s really not that hard.
A few weeks ago, I spoke to Maame Biney, the first black woman to qualify for the U.S. Olympic Speedskating team, and she told me about how much her dad sacrificed to help her attain that Olympic status.
Been a few days but can’t begin to say how honored I am to close out my time with
@SpectrumNews
with two
@APSE_sportmedia
top 10 noms for two of the best stories I’ve ever written.
To those who helped with these, you deserve credit. To the athletes, thank you for trusting me.
I asked Cam’Ron Johnson why he chose Mizzou, and promised the Tigers’ offensive line will not be a problem for the team next year
Gotta say, I believe him.
My column on why I do:
Williams Nwaneri has a quiet persona. He has a humbleness that showed as he committed to Mizzou on Monday.
Behind that humble player is a drive that stems from a promise he made to his mother when he was 15.
My story on what motivates Williams Nwaneri:
If you’re a male working in sports, call yourself an ally and you’re not a member of
@AWSM_SportMedia
, you’re not doing the most you can to support women in sports.
