Hey
@MiguelDelaney
, while im sure you’re getting plenty of abuse right now... I just want to bring up this conversation you and I had about
@ManCity
. Turns out the jurisdiction and time period mattered... care to discuss today on
@MaineRoadRamble
?
1/5 A lot of United fans love to talk about “where would City be without the 2008 takeover,” but they never seem to want to discuss:
Where would United be without City helping save them from bankruptcy in the 1930s by colluding with them to stop Manchester Central?
THIS is pre-Abu Dhabi Manchester City.
THIS is Manchester City without oil money, without state funding.
Do Rodri, Haaland, De Bruyne or Ederson sign for THIS Manchester City?
Do Aguero, David Silva or Yaya Toure sign for THIS Manchester City?
Does Pep Guardiola join THIS
Ruben Dias has said perhaps the most Ruben Dias thing ever about losing the 2021 CL final. "As a very wise man once said to me, we didn't lose the final, we just got one step closer."
City are a finally tuned F1 car. Each piece has to fit the car perfectly and not upset the balance to ensure it continues to perform at elite levels.
Some of you wanting them to be United and shoving the biggest sub-woofer and flashiest under-body LEDs makes no sense to me.
5/5 I know our attention spans our shortening, no one wants to read history, and critical thinking skills seem to be lacking everywhere these days; but history didn’t start in 1992, it started for both clubs in the 1800s. And the story of both, like all clubs, is complex.
2/5 Or where would United be if City hadn’t allowed them to use, at a massive loss to themselves, Maine Road after the Manchester Blitz rendered Old Trafford unusable from 1945 to 1949? And again when Old Trafford didn’t meet the requirements for UEFA competition in the 50s.
@dhaaruni
@SwannMarcus89
Except that’s not what he’s saying. Hes saying people confuse “fashion” for “what I find attractive.” The guy in that photo would look good in 90% of outfits because he’s in shape. That doesn’t mean he’s stylish.
Next time I hear a 64 year old from Bury bitching about “tourists” getting tickets, im showing them this video and daring them to say these true blue supporters are “tourists.”
3/5 Or maybe we could discuss where United would be without the critical financial support City provided in the wake of the Munich Disaster, including organizing a collection at the next home match for the disaster fund?
@el_mansfield
My stance: Nunez absolutely could finish that goal. He could also miss in comical fashion, as could Scamacca, and as could most strikers.
4/5 Or perhaps we could discuss where United would be without the “interesting” financial support provided by owner and chairman Louis Edwards, derived from selling rotting meat to the poorest parts of Manchester on a government contract.
Picture this: you’re a 16 year old girl in rural Indiana in 1992. After a high school party, where your ability to consent to sex was questionable at best, you find yourself pregnant. You’re barely 16, you haven’t even finished high school, you live with your parents. 1/25
I just can’t handle City fans upset that we didn’t sign a guy who’s as problematic and un-City like as CR7. Be glad that stain of a human being isn’t wearing the club’s crest.
@NA1907_
Tebas is terrified because his entire strategy and business model involves Real Madrid and Barcelona being able to out spend anyone for superstars.

1. Shame someone for wearing a bikini (which is a whole different issue).
2. Get called out on it.
3. Delete the pictures.
Whoever the hell is running your hr/legal work over there needs to have a serious conversation with your entire staff
@kickassmasterm

@benwritesthings
The problem with your critique is that it’s not a “fact” that Pete and Chasten made their kids into props. That’s why the article was vile and why there’s been a reaction to it.
Missed this during the match, but Jack Grealish giving his kit to a young Fulham fan wearing a hidden disabilities lanyard is just further evidence that he’s as top class off the pitch as he is on it.
If they want to claim that United’s lawyers made a material misrepresentation or misstatement in the SEC, there are multiple avenues for them to produce evidence supporting their claims. If they don’t, no one should listen to them.
🚨 Breaking: Sheikh Jassim's bid team are now seeking a "corrective statement" from

Everyone thinking City’s packed end of the season is a hinderance is forgetting they have an absolute psychopath of a manager who will have them ready to die on pitch rather than give up.
Imagine being upset that your team narrowly lost on penalties in the QF of a knockout competition, when you’re sitting atop the league table, could still win two trophies, and doing all of that in a transition year after just winning the Treble?
Perspective.
@BellanMelissa
A new magistrate judge was so nervous during her first sentencing hearing, I watched her say she was going to sentence the defendant to 10 years instead of 10 months. She immediately realized what she said when everyone gasped, but I felt so bad for her and the defendant.
1. Kalvin Phillips made a huge jump in quality of team and is behind a top 3 DM in the world, and had a massive injury lay-off due to delayed shoulder surgery. He’s not “rotting.”
2. Arsenal blew €80m on Pepe and €53m on Lacazette, so please tell me more about wasted $€£ 1/3

@officialmcfc247
@cityreportpod
Yea but non oil money clubs like Ars can’t splash 50m on a player like phillips just to rot on the bench. Like ur team does- nor can we let 100m+ worth of full backs (cancelo and mendy) just slip away. We’re having to make do with players from the wenger era.
@mrkesuke
@sam_kenney
Considering that the only player City has sold in the past decade that they didn’t want to was Sane, of course United has had higher sales figures. Our stars don’t leave.

He suddenly realized he couldn’t hide forever behind his money and power, so he started building an army of fans he programmed to believe any allegations against him were an “attack by the system” and not him finally dealing with the consequences of his criminal behavior.
Just wanted to let everyone know that Juan Lillo was in my grocery store just now. When he saw my Manchester City pull over he told me:
1) we’re signing Haaland, Messi, Alaba, and Oblak.
2) Pep Guardiola is getting hair transplant surgery.
3) the moon landing was fake.
@oeste
Would love to hear Carvajal come out and say the nicknames he and the other white guys had for their friends of different skin colors growing up. Because I think that would tell us all we need to know about why he feels this way (he’s part of the problem).
So I typically just post about soccer, but in my day job I actually get to do some really cool work helping people who often have nowhere else to turn. Recently I was honored to find out that I was selected to be a recipient of my firm’s 2021 Pro Bono Service Award.
One thing that hasn’t been discussed enough in the news about
@IndyMayorJoe
’s backstabbing move yesterday is that it also puts at risk
@IndyEleven
’s USL Women’s Super League team for 2025. Guess he wanted to one up a certain reporter in disrespecting our women’s teams.
@itsneus
What are the differences?
One is a positive feel good story about a minority athlete at an upstart club.
The other is a story of violence and corruption committed by a white athlete from a “legacy” club that the media mainly come from....
🤔
Only going to say this once: if you’re a fan of
@ManCity
and you took time out of today’s celebrations to insult other Blues who put a lot of time and effort into growing the club and the fandom because you’re jealous they are getting opportunities “your people” aren’t, GTFOH.
@TheCalcioGuy
@thegoalkeeper
Ban all of their fans from home and away matches for 5 games and find the clubs 500k. Clubs will start correcting and stopping this behavior when they don’t have any support at matches and are hemorrhaging money
Despite rumours, Erling Haaland’s salary agreed with Manchester City won’t go beyond the level agreed with Kevin De Bruyne, now worth around £375,000 per week. 🔵⭐️
#MCFC
Haaland will sign with Man City until June 2027 - so he’s not gonna break City salary structure.

That’s a pep Guardiola compliment through and through. Also as someone who was at the match Ream and Jedi were immense against a city side that were prepared to go to hell and back to win that match.
@SamBrow74823937
City were never found guilty of any financial doping charges. One settlement and one CAS verdict throwing out any UEFA findings except non-cooperation.
Said it on the pod, and I’ll say it again, entirely unbothered by a result in a match that doesn’t affect anything for the rest of the season. On to Dortmund.
TLDR: I’m a kid who could have easily been aborted, is thankful every day that he wasn’t, thinks he’s made a positive impact on the world, BUT I’m still pro-choice and anyone seeking to restrict access to abortions is actively harming the future child and their mothers. 25/25
@lgbtqfc
Birth controls are on the market with a one in a thousand chance of causing blood clotting and we’re pausing vaccines for a one in a million chance when the result of not getting vaccinated are much higher odds of serious complications? Come on.
@cityreportpod
Absolutely and unequivocally no. Give me Jack Harrison for £25m this summer over someone who should be playing bridge and dominoes at the retirement home already.
This tweet actually says far more about how unimpressive the Invincibles season actually was, when 10 (and likely soon to be 11) of the winners of the EPL will have eclipsed their points total; than it does about City or Arsenal this season.
@madvillain666
@AmosMurphy_
1. There’s one top class striker on the market and the board has no control if he chooses City.
2. We need a backup DM, not a replacement for prime Fernandinho. There are plenty of options.
3. Zinks has been a left back for 3 seasons now. Cancelo is the best lb in the league.
@StevenMcinerney
@ya24hya
Also Rodri has:
3 PL
2 League Cups
1 FA Cup
1 UCL
2 Super Cups (1 with Athleti)
1 Community Shield
1 UEFA Nations League
at 27 years old. It’s entirely possible that he vastly exceeds Casemiro’s trophy by the time he retires my brother 😂
@slbsn
Particularly egregious considering we apparently bribed Oliver to not give us a stonewall penalty but to give us a goal that arsenal fans believe was offside merely because they dont understand how viewpoint perspective works 🤷🏻♂️

Group 1: a classic night of pint golf.
Group 2: classy night of wine and cheese.
Group 3: golf course day drinking.
Group 4: the clubs aren’t ready for this shit.

@SamLee
out here putting my thoughts into better words than I ever could.
Anyone claiming Pep Guardiola has some glaring weakness ignores the fact that he’s in a league of his own when it comes to managers. No one has ever done, or likely will do what he has done again.
@ziplamak
Given she blocked me, a person she’d never interacted with before, for asking her to name her teammates on the 2019 roster she was better than, since she claimed it was clear she should have started every match, this isn’t surprising.

Playing for a team that barely avoids relegation and has no shot at an EPL/UCL versus playing for a team that competes on all four fronts… that’s not the same thing.

Lewandowski beat Haaland with better players around him and at the end of the peak of his career compared to Haaland still being a pre-peak player. Lewandowski doesn’t do anywhere close to what EH is doing with city at this point in his career.

I can give you countless examples of that not being true. There’s tons of communities across the US that have been completely revitalized by welcoming in refugees and immigrants.
