This is the single most important figure for CCS If the green bar (revenue) is higher than the gray bar (cost) CCS is likely to get deployed in the US. If it's lower, it doesn't. CCS is by definition the green premium, and the alternative is more emissions

CCS is a suite of technologies, across many use cases. Some of the use cases are better than others. Costs, technology, TRL all vary. So instead of saying "CCS is fraud" or "CCS is bad" or whatever empty platitude you prefer, please be specific, and give an alternative!

Surprising no one, most of the carbon offset projects are junk. The voluntary carbon market is filled with bad actors, exaggeration, and fraud. Companies should reduce their own emissions close to zero, and buy high-quality removals for the rest.

We have new technologies to make steel, cement, ammonia, plastics, and that's great But it says nothing about the need to mitigate emissions from existing facilities Over 1000 blast furnaces, 1000s of fossil fuel based cement facilities, and so on. We need CCS for some of them

Geologic storage of carbon dioxide is one of the safest climate technologies. We've injected nearly 300 million tons with no leaks. Most of these tons are stored in saline aquifers, deep underground, ~8,000 ft below surface, or about 26 Statutes of Liberty.

The real impact of the DOE CO2 procurement effort is not the tons themselves and they're probably the least impactful. It's the criteria DOE used to include/exclude CDR technologies. This is a huge signal to the VCM, Europe and the world. What is govt procurement grade CDR?

John Kerry calling CDR dangerous is the headline, but what he actually said was that using CDR, in lieu of rapid reductions is dangerous. Myself, and nearly everyone in CDR agrees. We can do both, but if we don't reduce, removals don't matter.
