The way in which Sir Philip Rutnam has quit simply confirms all the "briefings" from last 2 weeks. He didn't like the new regime, didn't like the new Home Secretary, and didn't like that he wasn't getting his way. His job was to do what Priti Patel wanted - it's right he's gone.

For every remoaner complaining about the #Brexit 50p, can I remind everyone that we had a 50p in 1973 to celebrate us joining, and another in 1998 to celebrate 25 years of membership and our Presidency. We mint coins to recognise occasions. 31st January is a pretty big occasion!

I would like to congratulate @theresa_may for yet again exceeding all my expectations! I thought we’d lose about a thousand seats, but no, that wasn’t good enough for her - we lost 1334 hard working Conservative councillors. All because the PM won’t admit it’s time to go.

@theresa_may @AldersgateGrp A terrible, uncosted at the time (and later confirmed to be ridiculously expensive) decision that in future decades we will come to regret - in terms of the costs to jobs, our wealth, and quality of life. I'm afraid it's an even worse legacy than the draft Brexit deal you left.

@benhowlettuk @stonewalluk We wouldn't let teachers use materials from Conservatives, Labour, or SNP and teach them as facts. Entirely proper we don't allow materials from other campaigning organisations to be taught as facts.

Sadly my local MP now seems to be drinking the same kool-aid @theresa_may & her team are. A “pragmatic #Brexit ” is not the answer. It’s simple: A) May must go B) Ditch the #BRINO Withdrawal Deal C) Deliver the Brexit we voted for Otherwise we’re inviting Corbyn into Number 10.

Very surprising Labour lost rather than gained seats, esp in the Midlands and North. Less surprising are Con losses given very high 2015 starting point. But this shows the public want MPs from both main parties to stop arguing & deliver a pragmatic Brexit (entailing compromise)

@SeanSmithCeleb It's several times a year, not daily. Releasing official pictures has also mostly destroyed the market for unauthorised paparazzi snaps. They are the future King and Queen and there is public interest in the line of succession for this great country and several others. 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

No, Nick. The majority - women, 51% of UK population - are the ones under attack. Their rights, spaces & sports are at risk. Stonewall, unbelievably, are the ones now attacking homosexuals - accusing us of transphobia if a man won’t date a woman or vice versa. #SexMatters

@dan_grey @T_Extinguishers A bus can weigh up to 18 tons (a new style route master is 12 tons). They're absolutely lethal, and have no place on our roads.

@GoodSchweik @TomJackSpencer @LesRallizes77 @HCH_Hill The average temperature in my flat during the day has been 23-25c for the last several weeks (north facing). I mostly work from home. It is a pretty unpleasant environment to work in - my flat is so well insulated, meaning it retains far too much heat even in modest temperatures.

If true, it's important we don't retaliate in-kind & disrupt legitimate trade and business contracts. We should instead tear up the Brexit Withdrawal Agreement and the billions of euros the EU wanted - killing British citizens is nothing short of an act of war.

While finding someone who has never expressed any political views for this kind of role would be quite difficult, it is rather telling that those brought in are always on the anti-Conservatives & anti-Brexit side... wonder why?

@mummygirl @CPhilpOfficial @JamesCleverly Highest employment ever, with unemployment halved over last 8 years under a Conservative government. We've also had record numbers of job vacancies, so if someone wants to work they will find work.

Perhaps if the #BBC wasn't wasting money on things like this (we really don't need a "Beeb" voice assistant), they'd have the funds needed to keep free TV licenses for the over 75s! So much waste from a single organisation.

Irony clearly lost on the #EU , today begging the USA to allow free flow of vaccines supplies... while the EU has just blocked an export of 250k Oxford AstraZeneca doses to Australia!

Watching @patel4witham interview on @SkyNews #Ridge this morning: 1) Huge breath of fresh air without constant interruptions by interviewer 2) Confirming that Priti Patel remains a huge asset to the #Conservatives - completely on top of the detail & unflustered by questions

Sad to see journalists like @BethRigby making same mistakes with #coronavirus #lockdown as with #Brexit . The British public are not thick and can understand perfectly fine what they are being told. The only confused person here is Beth!
