Respectfully my comment is not about current or fmr govt incl. my time as Minister. Its about sovereignty & status of Somalia post-1991. To attain full sovereignty, govt authority must extend across the country, our people must accept it as legitimately serving our nat'l interest
I have a great deal of respect for Min. Awad, but this is an unfortunate statement by the Former Foreign Minister. He can disagree with current political happenings but to question the integrity/sovereignty of the state is mudslinging & distasteful at best. 🤷🏽♀️

M. Gaildon is a good friend. I hope he allows me to disagree with him on this one. The clashes in Bosaso referred to are initiated by Deni following Mohamud Diyano’s defiance of Deni’s directive to replace him. Pres. Deni could have handled it differently like his predecessors.

My point was: Sovereignty of a nation ultimately lies with its people and the legitimacy of a state is derived from their consent, support and unity. Killing one's own people in the pursuit of power can actually weaken a government's legitimacy and undermine its sovereignty.

Dear Gaildon, I also admire your intellect and integrity. I know you. I agree with the gist of your argument. My take is “state monopoly of force” is used judicially and to protect human life not to endanger it. Violence initiated by the state leads to culdesac and disaster.
