Unequivocal message from the humanitarian community in #Sudan to warring parties.

Local humanitarian volunteers in Sudan face rising security threats. First responders, mutual aid groups in Khartoum & elsewhere should NOT be subjects of targeting, false accusations or retaliation. They are valuable partners & a lifeline to communities in hard-to-reach areas.

Let’s be clear: attempting to help #Sudan while sidelining Mutual Aid Networks/ local responders is both outdated and a strategic miscalculation. The international community must prioritize supporting them to save lives. At this point, it is not "innovation", just basic logic.

Today, 5 years on from our humble beginnings, I pass the torch over as Country Director to my successor. It's been a honour to lead our team, and I continue to be humbled by the courage and ingenuity of Sudanese civilians across the country. Last year, overcoming immense challenges together, we directly helped more than a million people. More must and can and will be done. I want to thank everyone who I've had the honour of working with in different ways and for those supporting humanitarian aid for those suffering around the country. Bon courage and stay strong!

Local responders are civilians - and often the only ones carrying humanitarian aid to civilians in Sudan's frontlines. When one is attacked, entire neighbourhoods pay the price. They MUST be protected #Sudan @UNOCHA_Sudan

Countless of people haven’t seen - or even haven’t heard- from their family trapped in Al Jazira for months, while RSF committed barbaric crimes on civilians. On top of relief, I imagine the anxiety they must feel today, what new horrors are we going to discover ?
