This Starbucks association with Israel is the most bizarre Mandela effect I've ever heard of. To this day, 8 months later, despite repeated inquiries, I have still not been able to ascertain how exactly Starbucks is supporting Israel's effort in Gaza.
I have not gotten Starbucks since 10/7 and I will not do for the foreseeable future. Not because I care about them investing in Israel, because Dunkin is better.

@neeratanden Neera, I've had Democrats taunt me that my birthright citizenship will be taken away and I'll be sent away to smelly India because not enough of our community voted for the Democrats. With all due respect, this is not a problem with simply one party.

@agraybee This is one of those things that sounds really badass in your mind, but then when you actually say it, you realize your folly immediately.

@neeratanden Yes that's why I'm a Democrat. But let's not pretend that one party has a monopoly on anti-Indian sentiment.

@Angry_Staffer It's over now, right? The half-brother and conspirators are in Jordanian custody?. One of the conspirators was an American, it seems, which rather complicates things.

@tdauj This would at least be logically consistent and not require them to be the stupidest voters in the country.

@NickyFrank30 We were unable to respond to the "trans surgeries for prisoners" ad because if we came out and said that we weren't for that and we won't do it, the trans activists would start screaming about how Kamala wants to genocide all trans people. Maybe we should stop crying genocide!.

@tify330 Yeah this is all about major donors wanting to subvert the primary and install their favorite over the will of the Democratic electorate. If they do this, the progressives will be right about the Democratic Party and I'll be PISSED.

@MattGertz Hitler was such a strategic genius that in 12 years he convinced the entire rest of the world to declare war on Germany, killed millions of his own citizens, saw his cities reduced to rubble, his country divided into occupation zones, and wound up eating a bullet. What a genius!.

@igorbobic More diversity is good. But I dislike this erasure of Harris's South Asian descent. Duckworth said she felt "insulted" when that was pointed out to her. Well I feel insulted by this. I am tired of the erasure of South Asians and our contributions. I'm upset with Duckworth.

@agraybee I always like to bring up Breaking Bad in this context. The premise makes no sense post-ACA because Walt would not have been kicked off his insurance to begin with.

@FacepalmEpitome @ed_solomon There's no way that really happened, lol. People don't actually talk like that. It's like a parody.

Do you remember that time Hillary said that if Trump was elected it would be the end of Roe v. Wade, and you said that was wrong because Republicans said they wouldn't do that? And then they did?. Maybe stop taking them at face value, Jonathan!.
Consensus from reporters who have replied is that Clinton is likely wrong: Republicans say they would observe precedent and allow replacement on committee

@TimRyan @TheDemCoalition Tim Ryan is the only Democrat who can win this seat. Everyone loves him!. Tim, if you're reading, I want to thank you for the work you did informing the public in the immediate aftermath of the insurrection. Those zoom updates were the only official info we got at the time.

@EiratheIntern @Whatapityonyou It's almost a ritual at this point for an incoming executive to sign a bunch of executive orders undoing the previous executives orders.

@agraybee Yeah maybe it's my history is a bit foggy, but I seem to remember it was Stalin who made a deal with Hitler while Churchill vowed to fight on even if alone. It was only after Hitler double-crossed him did Stalin have issue with his method. Did I have that right?.

@mkraju Why is it insulting to say that Harris is a South Asian?. We don't count or something? Is that it? This is outrageous. Senator Duckworth what are you thinking.

@brikeilarcnn If this family is consuming a gallon of milk per person per day, at what point does this become a rate of consumption issue? I mean, do they expect free unlimited milk or something? Like in Canaan? We're a long way off from there, haha.

@fawfulfan The prequels have a lot of flaws, but at least they were trying to tell an original story and had a common theme. Whereas the sequels are just nonsense. And they were clearly making it up as they went along.

@fawfulfan Americans will max out their 401k and Roth IRA and contribute 40% of what's left into a brokerage account and then tell pollsters with a straight face that they're living paycheck to paycheck and are struggling to get by.

@williamadler78 @cliffschecter @SharylAttkisson @MEPFuller Yeah I don't think this person understands that as the overall proportion of vaccinated people approaches 1, the rate of breakthrough cases will increase. This is expected, and what's also expected is that severe illness, hospitalizations and deaths will stay down, which they are.

@agraybee Honestly, they need jobs. I've been to towns in rural Missouri where there is literally zero economic activity going on. The only income the town gets is from the federal government in the form of SSI, etc, or retirement money. It's an economic wasteland.

@AngryBlackLady Matt Yglesias has been writing undergraduate-level commentary for over 15 years now. I mean it was fine in 2004 or whatever. But it's like . that's your thing now?. Some of his posts would get rejected from a university student newspaper's oped section.

@Ziggys_Duck It's interesting. This episode was made in the aftermath of several high-profile FBI scandals, including John Connelly, who was a mole for the Bulger gang, and Robert Hannsen, who spied for Russia. The idea of a corrupt FBI agent tipping off organized crime was not so far-fetched.

Lmao Biden ain't got no time for these petty tyrants. Dude owns 39 restaurants, thinks he's a prince!.
Joe Biden tells a small business owner that his industry is "really going to be in a bind for a little while," and goes on to say that if he wants to hire workers, he'll just have to pay a $15/hr minimum wage:

@agraybee The connection is kinda tenuous. Yes, processed food given as aid led to health problems in many communities, including, notably Hawaii and American Samoa via Spam. But the point here is "don't use doordash." Frozen food is only brought up b/c we know they're too lazy to cook.

@agraybee Also, the specific problem that he had regarding pre-existing conditions was outlawed by the ACA. In that regard, Breaking Bad is very much a pre-Obama production. By the time the show ended, Season 1 Walter would never have had to resort to such methods.

@agraybee People in Europe can be phenomenally racist, and its expression can be shocking to Americans whose ears are more attuned to softer dog whistles. Go to a Parisian cafe, get to know someone, and ask if they think France has a "Muslim problem.".

@magi_jay Oh man I'll never forget that. "I didn't have time.". What, was a nuclear bomb gonna go off if he didn't get this story out right that moment? What exactly was so important that he didn't have time to do like basic follow-up to see if anyone could corroborate what she was saying.
