Amy Johnson was ***hard as nails*** but women were banned from being fighter pilots by ministers. She flew at a time when the risks were v high & where emergency landings often involved long walks to post offices to phone for help.
Today is the 80th Anniversary of the death of Amy Johnson CBE, 5 Jan 1941. She accomplished more in her short life than many of us can dream to.
She ran out of fuel over the Thames Estuary in bad weather, whilst delivering an Oxford Airspeed for the Air Transport Auxiliary.

Lots of talk about “the four tests”- but in reality, they’re quite vague, their calculation could be made in several different ways. And the government hasn’t given detail on exactly what they’re looking for. Given that, wonder how immovable the dates will be, in practice.
