I'd like to see a really strong response to the Orban visit to the UK.
This is one of Johnson's most shameful symbolic acts.
It's a nose-tweak to the EU, a thinly-coded message.
And it's a horrible signal to UK citizens.
Let's find a way to embarrass them both ... ideas?

The Bill removes the separate requirement for an MV, so MPs' only shot at blocking this is to block the Bill. And the Bill also allows No Deal at end of next year.
And there's no time to scrutinise it in depth.
Is anyone out of their mind enough to vote for this crap?
Clause 30 of the EU (Withdrawal Agreement) Bill. What happens if the Government doesn’t propose an extension? Parliament would have no say and we would exit the transition period on the 31 Dec 2020 even if a trade agreement hadn’t been reached by then with the EU; ie no deal.

I spent 26 years briefing on new bills when they appeared. It's not just reading. You have to look for the cross-references, interactions, potential contradictions etc. That's just to get a grip. If you're an MP, THEN the work starts of scrutiny - probing, asking qs etc.

If anyone's in doubt that the 2016 referendum was the onset of a decline in UK democracy, standards, culture, decency, then contemplate how a law-abiding taxpayer who lives and owns property here and is mother to a British child can be excluded in such a flippant, arbitrary way.

'I have always worked here, I'm mother of a British child, home owner, lawful citizen...it's all for nothing.'

Well, Germany may be hopping from foot to foot over tanks, but the little Netherlands might be about to jump in with F-16s. One step forwards, one step back.
The Netherlands is currently phasing out its F-16s for 52 F-35As. This air force modernization provides opportunities for Ukraine, as the US has rhetorically at least loosened countervailing pressure on NATO allies supplying jets to Ukraine

I live in London. I recently saw a domestic cat use a pedestrian crossing. A fox ran to catch up, & the two walked over the rest of the crossing side by side. Fox made no attempt to attack cat, and cat showed no alarm as fox arrived. They stood together a mo on verge, then split.
The second para of this is perhaps the ultimate Brexit lie.
The EU is its member states. When the UK was one, it played a very big role in setting the rules of the single market.
Far from being incompatible with UK sovereignty, those rules were an *exercise* of our sovereignty.
