I think it's the browser's fault. Every piece of software is a bloated webtech monolith that does everything. I don't think this paradigm will last because it is ridiculous. I know it's hand-wavey and hard to believe, but I genuinely think that's what's going to happen
@twinkdefcon
it has that panopticon effect on power-users but it's even worse for lurkers (who make up what, 90% of the internet?) and become faceless observers of this whacked-out mileu but without any of the interaction
@AndyMasley
I like to use the Nate Silver index to measure how funny something will be. If people are mad at Nate Silver, whatever's about to happen will be really funny
@SAMOYEDWAVE
in junior year of high school a friend and i live-booted fedora on a computer lab computer and they called IT and kicked us out. we were sitting there generating dwarf fortress worlds
@tszzl
nice try. actually, the country is run almost entirely by completely unpredictable second order downstream effects from things people did 100 years ago!!
so a couple days ago i made a shitpost about tipping chatgpt, and someone replied "huh would this actually help performance"
so i decided to test it and IT ACTUALLY WORKS WTF
