Amir is right. The newspaper cited as a source says that the MODAL age is 5, i.e. more 5yos have been killed than any other age, but it’s nowhere near the average. To be clear, this doesn’t make it any less horrifying, but misinformation doesn’t help anyone.

Uf difícil pero el inglés tiene una forma sutil de diferenciarlos, hay dos significados de “people”, depende si es en singular o plural
“a people” (plural: “peoples”) = “un pueblo”, “pueblos” (refiriéndose a un grupo o grupos en particular)
“people (plural of person)” = “gente”
