No, John McTiernan was never in the mix to direct SPEED. But he did have a small hand in what we see on screen. Here, the DIE HARD director details a "gimmick" he and Jan de Bont ("Janny") came up with to sort of hack Keanu Reeves and get the actor out of his own head. Voilà!
