Just so you know the submissions really do get read: we’ve already accepted 8 new poems, 2 Table Talks, 5 longer essays, and 1 story since our online submissions opened on January 1 — most of them by people we’d never heard of. And the first month isn’t even over yet!

Sometimes we get complaints about our speed. If you don't want to be rejected quickly, don't submit to The Threepenny Review. (Acceptances can take longer, because they involve multiple re-readings.) We are really reading as carefully as anyone else -- we just do it sooner. 2/2

Apparently our Online Submissions system was overwhelmed in its first few days of operation, so some of you got confirmation notices but your submissions never reached us. If you have not yet had a reply and you submitted work before January 4, please try submitting again.

Our reading season is less than five days old and we've already accepted one new poem and one new essay. We've also rejected about 500 submissions. There are only three of us and we try to get through everything quickly, so our response time is usually less than 48 hours. 1/2

We just posted a notice about our submissions process on our Facebook page, so come find us on Facebook if you’re curious to know more. So far, since January 1, we’ve accepted 5 poems, 2 essays, and a short story, mainly by people we don’t know.

Submissions Update: Because we're receiving material at such a rapid rate (about 40% higher than in previous years), we've decided to shorten our reading period this year. The close of submissions will be April 30, 2021 -- not June 30, as in previous years.
