@ironcrakka I seem to remember the author(s) saying in a tweet somewhere that they think there's a bit more to love about humanity than there is to despise, which is kinda what I got out of it too. I don't think the series is anti-humanity or something but it highlights how shit we can be.

You know what, I'm *still* not done with this. All this talk of "Palpatine prepared for the Yuuzhan Vong", right? . It's based on the novel Outbound Flight, in which Palpatine mentions to Thrawn that he is aware of an extragalactic threat. (1/?).
Don't know what is more annoying, people saying "The Empire/Palpatine were just preparing for the Vong and therefore right" or the people who say that said position is the stance that the actual novels are taking.

Palpatine is a tyrant sorcerer that at some point, while already planning to take over as Emperor, foresaw that his rule would some day be challenged by another evil empire. He didnβt want that to happen. That does not justify anything he or his Empire did.

If you think about it, The Rise of Skywalker is just a big love letter to a lot of the early SW EU days. -Palpatine back from the dead (Dark Empire).-Plot involves an absurd amount of superweapons (Bantam Era).-Complete nonsense plot (Jedi Prince). It all makes sense.

I think one of the greatest problem of Star Wars writing is that a lot of it is extremely self referential. Stuff like doing "Empire vs Rebels/Republic" over and over again. swotor designs look like modified OT designs. TFA is an ANH retelling. It's a snake eating its tail.

ROTJ, to me, feels like what it would be like if I though TLJ was good. The film has a ton of problems in the plot and some really odd choices but the emotional and thematic core are so well executed that I cannot say the movie is bad. That's how TLJ fans must feel, I guess.

I know the Prophecy is a contentious topic for SW fans but I'm just gonna throw into the void that I don't believe Anakin killing off the Old Order violently was part of the plan. I think he messed up hard and failed to fulfill the Prophecy and made up for it decades later.

I have a really funny idea for a social experiment:. You take a character from Old Republic and one from THR and describe their feats and accomplishments in yt shorts. The kicker being that you swap out who is from which continuity. Then you observe the reactions to them.
I've heard that High Republic has some pretty insane feats of Force use (by properly trained Jedi!) so I wonder why powerscalers don't latch onto that one.
