A few months ago we set out to build the next generation of the @getcode infrastructure that would deliver instant, guaranteed payments, but this time at a fraction of the cost. That turned into the Code VM — A purpose built-program that reduces transaction fees by up to 95% and account rent by 80% for hot accounts or near zero for cold storage when compared to our original approach. Today we've taken the next step to open source this program. There is still much work to do as we move through the integration with the Code sequencer and mobile clients. Open sourcing is the logical next step in our development process which will ultimately culminate in a full program audit and mainnet deployment. We look forward to continuing to share progress on the Code VM, and delivering killer product experiences that are only made possible by this sophisticated piece of infrastructure.
