No offense but this is a sport, and nobody is entitled to performing in team finals. The goal is to score as high as possible.
Completely benching gymnasts after quals is hardly a novel concept, and at least Hezly is likely to come away from this with a team gold medal.

i can’t think of a single gymnast who has had to deal with more adversity and bad luck in their career, yet she is always so gracious about it. whatever happens in quals, she has so much to be proud of for even being there.

I don't see anybody else talking about this. The WTC didn't even pretend to watch the routine in full, which they are required to do. 1:04 to 1:46 is 42 seconds AT MOST. Of a 1:30 routine. This cannot happen again.

I love the 2pc rule. The Olympic movement has never been about "the best of the best", it's about promoting world peace through sport.
And the "let the top 3 in regardless, and just apply 2pc to the rest of the (realistically non-American) peasants!" suggestion is even worse.
