Lots of people replying to this mentioning the Greens don’t support HS2
But to be fair to them, their candidates also campaign against East West Rail
Just addicted to nimbyism
🛫 The government has approved London City airport expansion... in a time of climate crisis 🤯
🚉 We think prioritising clean, affordable train travel is a no-brainer. Labour has other ideas...
By numbers at our parliamentary reception tonight there are lots of labour activists - and lots of labour MPs - who want our new labour government to build lots more houses
Introducing the Labour Yimby mailing list !
After our INCREDIBLE launch last night, if you want to keep track of everything we are doing to help fix the housing crisis, sign up and you’ll be the first to know.

What we have seen today is the political horseshoe is real but on the one side is labour which is pro actual lot building houses, and on the other side are all the other parties, who are a bunch of NIMBYs frankly
NEW: On the eve of conference in Liverpool, Keir Starmer announces plan for ‘planning passports’ to ‘turbocharge’ housebuilding, which ‘will mean that where development proposals meet design and quality standards, the default answer will be yes, not no’
Keir starmer wants to turbocharge housebuilding as priority number one to get our economy moving and raise the standard of living
If you want to turbocharge house building too, be here at 7pm tonight
Obama, in prime time, goes full YIMBY on housing at the DNC and gets massive applause: "We need to chart a new way forward...we need to build more units & clear away some of the outdated laws & regulations that made it harder to build homes for working people."
Trying to resist dunking on NIMBY Tory MPs but this is the same Nick Timothy whose approach to inclusive decision making when he was Cheif of Staff to Theresa May was to grab junior officials and practically yell “You just don’t understand hierarchy!”
I used my first question in Parliament to ask Ed Miliband about the process for approving the giant solar and battery farm, Sunnica. It’s clear from his answer he hasn’t visited the site and he didn’t properly consider all the evidence.
Richmond and Northallerton has an opportunity to turn the page on Tory chaos for good, and send a message to the whole country, by electing Tom Wilson on July 4th 🌹
Absolutely fantastic turnout to our campaign launch in Stokesley. Labour are just 3 points behind in Richmond and Northallerton, and we're raring to go to send the Conservatives a message that cannot be ignored.

My first written question to ministers and this is a massive issue for our town. Our nuclear power station represents a third of Hartlepool’s economic footprint and it’s essential that we secure new long term investment.
That’s what I’m working for as our town’s MP.
Interesting article.
Makes clear Reeve's speech this week was only the starting pistol
The battle to get building, and for the economy to start growing, has only just begun
My first speech as a Member of Parliament. I talked about the need to reform our children’s social care system, the wonderful people of Whitehaven & Workington and the need grow our economy through boosting clean power, especially new nuclear.
Lots to agree with in here. Three thoughts from me.
1) The central fact about the UK's economic geography is the non-London big cities underperform. Focusing on London as expensive misses some of the biggest problems the UK has with agglomeration, urban outcomes, and planning.
The new Labour Government has done more in 72 hours to reform the planning system than previous governments have done in 14 years.
The work of change has begun.
If labour announce a house building push within days of winning the election it will be akin to Bank of England independence in 97 in signalling economic seriousness and loosening of restrictions on growth
There is nothing labour could do more to signal economic credibility and set a new direction for the country than to go hard on housebuilding early.
Cannot come a moment too soon
Sir Keir Starmer and Rachel Reeves are to begin a housebuilding blitz within days of gaining power if Labour wins the election.

He’s just been convicted? Wow, I didn’t know that...He led an amazing life. What else can you say? He was an amazing person, whether you agree or not. He was an amazing person who led an amazing life. I'm actually sad to hear that
Standing in front of lots of lovely new builds, and if this morning is anything to go by, the manifesto in 5 years time will see them standing in front of loads more 😍
I came into politics to ensure working class people had a voice, and to address the big issues that matter.
However, in all of it my style seems to have caught attention. I gave my first

📢 The General Election has been called! I'll be your fresh, energetic and pragmatic voice for Milton Keynes Central.
Our priorities include:
1️⃣Infrastructure before expansion: Yes to investing in our existing residents - NO to Labour’s plan to build 63,000 more houses.
2️⃣Save
Telegraph (£) Developers are excited for the dawn of a Labour government. One industry insider said it will bring with it a “planning genius” in the form of Matthew Pennycook – Labour’s shadow housing minister.
This thread demonstrates that Britain's housing shortage is much bigger than a typical policy problem, it is a generational threat to Britain's future capacity for growth and social mobility.
Could Rishi Sunak lose his seat?
No prime minister has been unseated while in office, but Tom Wilson is trying to make history happen in Richmond & Northallerton ⬇️
