Because I am confident that PM and Chancellor are focused on what we need to do to get investment up. 24 of last 30 years the UK had the lowest investment in the G7. We had to raise taxes in the Budget to reset the funding for vital public services. Now the focus is turning round our structural economics weaknesses.

@ryan_murton Yes it's bad. That's why having a govt with a relentless focus on investment for productivity growth is good.

@AaronBastani It's definitely going to Euston! And we're going to spend £100bn on infrastructure in this Parliament. I hope we'll see lots of investment in rail and connectivity in the Budget!

Tory mismanagement, typified by the bat tunnel. We need to bring down the costs of major infrastructure so we can build more of it. But also, there are limits to the amount a govt can/should borrow. The Budget enabled £100bn more borrowing for investment and promised a 10-year infrastructure strategy. I'm confident the specific announcements when they come will be pro-growth.
Why can’t Britain build anything anymore? The news this week of the £100m ‘bat tunnel’ gave us some clues. Here’s the story of this tunnel, which has been 12 years in the making, and some thoughts on what it tells us

Reminds me of the 2024 Reform manifesto which would have been worse for the economy than Liz Truss.
@Dan4Barnet Bloody hell mate. This is some proper grade A nonsense.

Ok, it means that people are saying we won't manage to grow the economy so people can be better off - and I think we will! Very happy to discuss the decision to fund unwra. I want us to find a way to security and peace for Israel and Palestine, and I think aid is part of the route to that. As a local constituent, I'm happy to find time to speak about this - feel free to email my office, we can find a time.

Solving London's housing crisis demands a multilevel approach. This week I questioned the GLA, developers, and housing associations from across the city on what we can do to remove barriers to building and ensure more homes for Londoners.
Parliamentarians, boroughs, housing associations, developers and the GLA came together today to discuss the barriers we face to building the new homes Londoners need. It was clear that addressing viability challenges is the most effective way to unlocking new homes in London.

If we are to increase the UK's productivity and spur growth, we must help people who want to work find the jobs that work for them, and for employers to get the right matches. I'm pleased with this govt's progress to get Britain working and welcome the upcoming Green Paper to better support small businesses like Simon's.

There was a vote on a motion to approve the uplift in benefits and state pensions. Tories didn't vote against so it passed without a division. I don't know what you think Parliament is for if not to discuss things like the incomes the state provides to millions of people.
Padding out Parliamentary time with purposeless debates. This debate existed, not to discuss what should be done, but for people like Dan Tomlinson to pat themselves on the back for something they had nothing to do with.

Farage wants to rip apart the funding model for the NHS. He couldn't deny this at PMQs, in fact he nodded along while being asked about it.
Nigel Farage says he is “open to anything” when it comes to replacing Britain’s NHS with “an insurance-based model”. Patients would have to pay for healthcare with Reform.

The usual 3 hours was set aside for a debate on the uplift in state pensions & benefits. I attended & spoke in the debate. Not a single backbench Tory MP bothered to turn up and deliver a speech. Talk about finishing early, Tory MPs don't even make it to the Commons anymore.
It’s 4pm and Parliament is done for the day. Again. There’s so much to be done in this country, but this new Labour government - who control the parliamentary timetable - has nothing to offer.

For years now I've been reading @thomasforth's blogs. And there aren't many people in Britain who have had more of an influence on my understanding of the UK economy as it is in the real world than Tom. His list/essay here is worth your time.

Fantastic to meet you all yesterday. Lots to work on together in the coming months!
Great to meet our new MP, Dan Tomlinson @Dan4Barnet for a Q & A today and find out about our police station, accessibility plans for High #Barnet tube and our slow broadband. #Cohousing helps social services and NHS as people can be discharged earlier with support from neighbours
