I put my high-school physics knowledge to use and created an interactive water balloon simulation, completely in Blender GN. This was the purpose all along... right? Reply if you would like a follow-up post on the physics (+nodes) involved, it's quite cool!

Gave parallax occlusion mapping a go with Blender nodes. No arrays or subdivisions, just shading on 4 vertices. To my surprise, it was quite straightforward! I was even able to add some simple soft self-shadows. I recorded this demo in Cycles, but it works in Eevee too.

Fourier epicycles in Blender! Each gear rotates at a fixed speed around the previous. You can change the initial rotation and scale. If you have enough gears you can create any image.

I made a solver in

! Not that it's fast or anything (more like 10% speed), but because my coding knowledge is nonexistent. No big brain algorithms just brute force numerical integration. It is a dumb method but good enough for simple maps like this (see thread)

Bouncing balls in a blue bowl- now with self-collisions! Only Geometry nodes.
The trick I discovered was creating a mesh where all vertices were connected to all other vertices. Now you can use the edge lengths to measure the mutual distances.

A rotation can be represented as two simple reflections across vectors! The original points are rotated by twice the angle (signed) between the two vectors. In this demo the object is first reflected across the yellow vector and then the orange vector.

Those aren't the nodes for mapping. The actual work is done by the node group. It is not possible to show it all in a screenshot. I might release the file if there is enough interest, but you can message me if you would like a look.

I am using Geometry nodes to create the strands between the guide curves. It does not make sense for me to sell it as I think we will get dedicated nodes for stuff like this when the new hair system gets an official release.

Starting off with GN simulations with a physically accurate "simple" pendulum. Fun fact: there is actually no mathematical formula which accurately outputs the angle of a pendulum at a given time.

Thanks! I couldn't find any straightforward method of saving the current state of the simulation (preferably without animation). I figured baking through the physics tab would probably require keyframing so I didn't bother with it and just applied the modifier. (1/2)

Short tutorial: Sum up all height differences (dz) along radial direction from origin. dz= normal dot direction towards origin * stepsize (approx). Change origin and repeat. Additionally you can add the height of the origin to all the points (calculated from the previous sample).

If you look closely at the video, you can see I am in camera fly mode. I use the ⬆️⬇️⬅️➡️keys to move the camera around, which the node tree can detect using the object-info node. So you see, it is exactly like the real game.
