I remember Watergate pretty well, and I don't remember anything like this level of journalistic carelessness back then. The constant stream of 'bombshells' that turn into duds is doing much more to damage the media than anything Trump could manage.

In 2016, immigration gave us Brexit and Trump. Now it’s caused government shutdowns in DC and Berlin. It’s the most disruptive issue in the rich world, and it’s still getting hotter.

Some good news today. Two Afghan students enrolled in my fall class on US foreign policy were trapped in Kabul. Today they attended (virtual) class and are safe in Bishkek where Kyrgyz authorities are generously receiving student refugees.
