I worked for a home security company and was scarred for life due to what I heard through the home panel. People aren't breaking into homes when people are inside to steal their TV, everyone inside is in mortal danger and you should protect your family and yourself at all cost.

You're right. Hispanic refers to the region of Spain and Portugal and a Hispanic would be someone with ancestry from these places. Latino refers to speaking a Latin based language which Spanish and Portuguese are some along with French, Romanian and Italian.
