One week since the book dropped and so appreciative of everybody who has ordered (or already read!!) one.
From contact to clubs, we study it all together!
A gentle reminder as your SoF snark builds...
The John Deere Classic raises over $12 million total for nearly 500 charities in the Quad Cities. For some, this week literally keeps the doors open. Best per capita fundraiser on Tour.
We are losing sight of things like this.
I wish it was easier than joining a private club, but this was the reason for biting the bullet.
No pressure. No limits. And a snack bar with a personalized number for both.

Bernhard Langer's career earnings solely on PGA Tour Champions would rank him 38th on the PGA Tour All-Time Money list.
He has more than tripled his PGA Tour earnings since turning 50.
So, I have Anthony Kim’s opening round in Jeddah at -8.17 SG: Total. (shot 76)
For comparison’s sake, Eric Cole was -8.45 in the first round at Cognizant yesterday. (shot 79)
All things considered, I don’t think it was that bad of a debut.
#NotAHater
Max Homa tied the lead with 8 holes to play on the back and proceeded to go 1/6 fairways and 1/8 greens in regulation.
The psychology of the back nine on Sunday on the PGA Tour is one of the most amazing things in sports.
Scottie Scheffler entering the Masters:
3 wins, +2.81 SG: Total
Nelly Korda entering the Chevron:
4 wins, +2.76 SG: Total
You probably have to go back to summer 2005 (Tiger & Annika) to find the last time BOTH men's & women's golf were "Player vs. Field" heading into a major.
Okay
@JustinRayGolf
, here’s a good one…
Patrick Reed, Garrick Higgo and Danny Willett each hit tee balls into penalty areas on 17 today.
So, 3 penalty strokes.
As a group, played the hole in 3-under.
😳😳
Okay, Babz wanted the story, so I guess it’s 🧵 time…
In 2003, I was an Asst. Pro and went to pass my PAT (Player Ability Test), which is a 36-hole day where you have to shoot a certain score (or below) to register in the program to become a PGA professional…
My youngest, who is 22, is taking his Player Ability Test this morning in Sarasota in his quest to be a member of the PGA of America. Any of my club pro pals have good stories to share about their own PAT experiences (close calls, successes, fails, other player tales? Let’s go!!
Wind is ripping out at Kiawah right now. 15mph is a difference maker, especially coming back to the house.
Just saw Ian Poulter hit a cut driver at 17.
It's a Par 3 if you weren't aware.
Serious idea to make LIV a more compelling product.
Eliminate (or significantly cut) the individual purses and put it all in the team results. Make these guys hit shots to make money for others.
If it’s truly about the team element (it doesn’t feel like it), go all-in on team.
Happy 15th Birthday to my beautiful girl, Grace! (That’s 105 in dog years, thank you very much)
F’in right we made it, and we are going to keep fighting.
Arthritis stinks. Stairs stink too. Cancer won’t quit.
But our tail keeps waggin and our eyes keep loving.
On to 16!!
The community, of course, cares who plays. Everybody wants to see the best. But you know what? They also don't really care.
They are going to celebrate somebody who wins. Do it with a smile. And change lives in their community.
And the winner will make $1.3 million.
Here comes the 'awful field' tweets.
I never get it.
Guys can't play every week. That's a double-edged statement...
- The Best can't play every week
- Other guys literally can't play some weeks
I know I'm in a minority, but sometimes these weeks give us the best stories.
How much has the wind shifted at Kiawah?
180 degrees.
Yesterday, the 1st hole (into) gave up 6 total birdies. Today (down), it's already surrendered 4, to just 9 players who've played it.
I debated posting but I’m too damn proud…
My son had his first super competitive XC meet tonight. Already on a bad ankle, rolled it, fell & hurt it more. He was so off the pace, we thought he was lost.
I got to him & offered to carry him off.
He wanted to finish.
He did.
👊💪
We can aspire to reward the best athletes in our sport AND find a way to do so where everybody profits.
Will it happen? Probably not. The current sports landscape is driven by driving money to the top.
Part of me understands (agrees?) with that.
Part of me can still aspire.
The amount of legitimate people who cover golf reacting to the Morikawa video snippet without first thinking ‘hmm, I wonder if the ball moved to there and he is legally moving it back,’ is a wonderful social media case study.
Testing
@acaseofthegolf1
's "Golf is Hard" mantra...
Tomorrow I am playing golf with:
- A guy who finished just outside top 100 on KFT
- A guy off 3 top 30's in summer Opens, heading to KFT Q-School
- A D2 All-American grinding as a pro
I'm a 1.3 index. How bad do I get smoked?
@LouStagner
An underrated part of these misguided expectations is I don’t think we truly realize how close the hole 10 feet really is.
Most of the time I think I have a “10 footer” it’s probably really 12-14.
Pretty cool to host the
@LPGA
’s debut featured group coverage on
@ESPNPlus
this week. The ladies deserve it, the golf was great and we saw 30+ golfers hit every shot over a round. Just the beginning! Thank you to everybody who made it possible!
Celebrated 19 years with the best wife in the world AND had the whole family alongside a PGA Tour work week for the first time in a decade!
Vegas-Grand Canyon-Sedona!!
Eat your heart out, Griswolds!
@LouStagner
@TLeclair10
I’m going with option 2 and I don’t think it’s close for me.
I’m not going to 4-putt any greens, and hitting every GIR means that is a round with no penalty strokes.
Mistake avoidance is far better with option 2.
The loudest and most influential voices reacted in the moment as if officiating is broken, that they had done their jobs poorly, and probably worse from fans/others.
And they got it right.
And we wonder why it’s harder and harder to recruit and cultivate officials/referees.
The
@RocketClassic
right now is making a strong case for the “full” golf schedule, not just a limited, elite field lineup. We get:
- A potential Rickie redemption finish. ⭐️ power
- A play your way on story in Kuest
- A tournament with incredible community impact
I'm a huge fan of Memorial Park. Getting a close look this week and there is so much to love. Yes, it's long, but the green complexes have all sorts of character + tight run-off areas. Really good test for a course without a lot of stakes and spray paint.
@houstonopen
The retired co-creators of

are proud to be part of the announcement that…
THE BOOK IS HERE!
While I can’t guarantee you will love it, I have visual proof that if you order one, you’ll get it!
@CDogg2425
This is a key distinction. Is there a circumstance where I could hit a PW 140? Yes.
But, if I am answering how far my stock PW goes, it’s probably 125ish.
I’m surprised to see so many people say 140+ is their distance, which would be standard for ~80% (??) of Tour pros.
Thoughts from
@Paul_Casey
after his round today. Best interview on Tour, and gives some insight on his strategy in skipping the first playoff event next week. As somebody who is in the midst of 11 days away from my kids, I got you, Paul.
Time.
Time is a gift when more of it than ever expected becomes possible.
Time is fleeting when you realize not much is left.
Time is never right, when you know it must end.
I love you, Grace. Thank you for giving us so much amazing time!
Abraham Ancer is 171st this season on the PGA Tour in putting at -.409 He was 113th last year at -.065.
In this Presidents Cup, he is unofficially 1st at +1000.000023
@BrendanPorath
It's always there. There is a guy at the end of the range who sits in a cart with a hard hat on, and his job is to shag the balls that make it onto 1, 9 or the maintenance barn.
The week's true hero.
@AndyTFE
Rose is 110th on Tour in distance this year, slightly below average.
The average driving distance in 1980, presumably the best (only) time to look at pure persimmon numbers, was 256.
So, is the ball the additional 35 yards here? Could it be technique & fitness advancements too?
@Mark_J_Boyle
With all due respect for the legacy, passion & humanity that Slick has brought to the broadcasts, the best part of the call was the pbp guy and how he handled the moment, put it on a tee & didn’t jump in to fill the gap.
Wonderful humility in this sentiment, but that was 👍 Mark.
@NoLayingUp
Can you please spend 5 minutes on the pod tomorrow night discussing WHAT THE HELL is going on in the background.
Is this a 1920's movie set?
A fox hunt?
Are Robert Redford and Paul Newman recruiting bodies to grift Robert Shaw?!?
There is a guy applying a costume mustache!!!
@LouStagner
Keep preaching! I’m one round away from 0.0 this year and I:
- haven’t broken 70
- have broken par once in 20 rounds
- shot even par in 3 rounds
- 20 round average of 77
Still damn proud of my investment in time, but not delirious when it comes to the reality of my ability.
Cameron Smith’s 2021-22 schedule:
- 19 events
- 15 regular + 4 majors
- 11/15 regular events in the US
- 33 weeks off
Cameron Smith’s likely 2023 LIV schedule:
- 18 events
- 14 LIV + 4 majors
- 9/14 LIV events in the US
- 34 weeks off
@AndyTFE
@NoLayingUp
I’ve got it figured out… LIV is me and all of my 10-year-old buddies playing whiffleball and we were given $100 billion to splinter off a new challenge to Major League Baseball.
@KylePorterCBS
Said the same thing on the air yesterday when
@JasonSobelTAN
& I got a "competition is good" call:
When a competitor has a goal of making a better product, that is competition. When the competitor simply wants ANY product & skews/dilutes the market to make it, that is a problem.
Hate being away from home and missing the kids’ birthdays, but especially today. Grace is 13 and I’ve never been happier to raise a child that made it to 13. We are going to work like hell to get to 14, Big G!!!
In Spieth's run of 7 birdies in 8 holes coming in, this is how close he hit it for birdie:
7'8"
5'4"
2'11"
2'9" (chip close on Par 5)
7'4"
12'0"
2'11"
That was 2017 Spieth-level APP play. He could've putted with his wedge today.
Back from a week of celebrating 40 years of the best lady in the world!
And I return home to a major?!?! Nice! Don’t have time for a pod, but if there are lingering ?? about the

, fire away. I could be convinced to do a little last-minute research project.
Picked up a new loop this week and hope she keeps me on the bag for a few years.
@acaseofthegolf1
, if any
@LPGA
pros out there seemed in need, my résumé is growing quickly.
Thank you to
@GCMorningDrive
and
@GolfChannel
for having me as a part of their family these past couple of years. Beaming me in from home wasn't required and they've done it anyway. Excited to see what is next for everybody. And if you need a 'Steve Kornacki' for golf, 📱📞
I wouldn’t consider myself 100% purist or 100% progressive when it comes to golf “traditions,” but can we (almost) universally agree that Ams who earn spots in tournaments based on merit shouldn’t lose those spots just because they turn professional?
My little superstar turns 5 today, well on her way to a career as a talk show host.
As the first birthday in our house during this stay home period, we will be celebrating by eating our 324th cake.
After a defensive segment where Butler watches clank after clank from its opponent, my son says “no wonder they call them Ole Miss.”
I can honestly say...
A) I’ve never heard that before
B) I was sooo proud
What a special night last night. Lots of good friends and many new ones came out for the book launch.
Sounds like folks around the country are getting theirs too.
Forgive the gradual marketing push over the next couple of months! 📚
@travisfulton
@Daniel_Rapaport
The more I watch this, the more I think it’s the worst look for Reed. Just petty and bear-poking.
If he doesn’t acknowledge you, then stay there and talk, try to have it out, or just walk away. The tee flip is so minor, yes, but it’s such a childish move.
The casualty of being a road warrior is missing the fun at home.
This trio of best friends just won their first league title, two years after families came together and decided to start an independent travel team. Awesome!
Pictured: 2 goal scorers and my MVP (in the middle)
Is there a more fascinating person in travel than the guy who is mad because he can't get on a broken airplane?
Maybe I am in the minority, but when my plane needs maintenance, go ahead and FIX THAT. I'll wait.
Epilogue...
I was playing some of the best golf of my 30’s the past month. Handicap dropped to the 0-2 range. My last three rounds...
Bay Hill from the tips
Hawthorns from the tips
Crooked Stick from the tips
3 rounds of 81. Overswinging driver to keep up.
HUGE gap to pro golf
And while I will make sure he gets a shout-out on the air today, I hope
@chadmark614
gets a ton of run on TV today.
He won the past two weeks. Two different courses on the same course. Way to go, Sup'!! Have fun playing in the dirt tomorrow.
Off air at 1:00. On plane by 3:00. Surprised kids for dinner at 5:30.
Turned off phone until 8:30.
Watched back nine of PGA on DVR.
That was special. I’m still a little emotionally confused by what happened, but it happened!!
@NoLayingUp
Maybe his first event back is the LIV event in June, forcing all of golf media to attend in order to hear from him, forcing worldwide coverage of the event.
Let’s go, Sawgrass!!!
Just got on site and man does she look so so pure. The overseed is flawless, the greens already have some yellow in them.
Watched a tee ball down wind at 13 (180 yd shot) bounce and roll out 30-40 feet.
No rain forecast. This place will be fun!
Side note from my first experience at Wyndham - The drama of guys playing for their livelihood was incredible, but watching the grind on the faces of the caddies was equally impressive. Many don’t realize how many futures rest on how guys played this week.
@CaddieNetwork
@TheAPTC
Hustling back to Indy but thanks again
@JDCLASSIC
for making me feel at home when on the road. Love how the Quad Cities show out for that tournament. Took more pictures and talked to more fans of PGA Tour Radio than almost any stop on Tour.
Pretty special night in Hinkle with a lot of memories and friends moving on. Hard not to be emotional.
And thanks to
@IndyPenskeHonda
for the second half seat upgrade.
We did it, Grace! We f’in did it!!!
Happy 16th Birthday to the sweetest, happiest, hungriest, most loving dog in the world.
The back legs are going. We are really good at growing tumors. Damn those stairs. We get stuck behind furniture & on hardwoods.
But… we fight on! ❤️❤️❤️
The next 55 days for me, starting tonight...
- Nine college basketball games
- Riv, Honda and Players on Tour for Radio
- Two college golf tournaments streaming
- Four NCAA Selection Shows
- 6(ish) podcasts, I hope
AKA, my attempt for the minor league Grand Nantz.
