So there's a bit of talk around general Poke twitter today that "If you have a +Speed nature in Gen 4, the Pokemon's send out animation speed is faster".

Every day so far there has been a new route. We really are coming to the point where there's just nothing else left to skip. The evolution of this run has been such an insane, and fun journey.

New BD/SP any% record. Finally got a sub 40 run. Current route can go under 35 mins with perfect luck/execution, but getting under 30 would require some new tech. We've made amazing progress in such a short time.

Pokemon BD/SP completed in well under an hour. Could definitely go under 45 with this route too with really good luck/gameplay.
Amazing stuff, genuinely had so much fun with these tricks, game wouldn't be half as fun without them.

Feel like there are a lot of new runners (and people who advise new runners) who need to hear this:
You don't need to be doing the most optimal strats to be doing a speedrun. If something is too hard it's off putting, you can do another method. You can always learn it later on!

Thirdly, none of the 3 groups are plain "faster" or "slower", they vary per Poke.
Since I'm a speedrunner I'll tell you the relevant information I've checked in the past: Chimchar has a faster anim as Lonely than Naughty, but Infernape has a faster anim as Naughty than Lonely.

First off, this isn't a "Gen 4" thing. It's only in D/P for Gen 4, it doesn't exist in Platinum onwards. However, it can also be observed in Emerald.

In Kanto, grass encounters are less common than they are in Johto. However, water and cave encounters are more common in Kanto than they are in Johto.

I can't believe this needs to be said, but reminder if you 'take a break and pause the timer' you are not doing an RTA speedrun.
It is a different type of speedrun, and should not be comparing to RTA runs - much like segmented runs aren't ever directly compared.

I said this route would bottom out at about 33... that was pretty accurate.
First encounter first ball Graveler, so this run has pretty crazy good luck. Definitely not ever improving this without new tricks. Insanely good time for now!

Murkrow and Misdreavus are not available in Platinum, only D/P. But the Dusk Stone is only available somewhat early in the game in Platinum, not D/P.

God, EXP Share really does hamper an already diminishing Gameplay to Cutscene ratio in Pokemon games. There's just so little need or incentive do anything off the main path, because your team is more than equipped enough anyway. Doing so just makes it all even easier.

Shield/Sword thoughts:
In general the gameplay is quite fun (good poke diversity, wild area is v nice), it's just a shame there isn't much of it. Too much cutscene to cutscene for my liking. Once past that it's an enjoyable experience, for a rabid Poke fan. Better than gen 7!
