The biggest gripe I've had with journalism during the Trump regime is their inability to see Trump as pathological. Trump would say something off-the-wall batshit crazy, and the pundits would go to their panels and act if they were analyzing some subtle nuance of tax policy.

I noticed this watching my parent's friends as they got older. If the woman died first, the men usually shriveled up and died soon after. If the man died first, the woman began a whole new life: friends, traveling, social clubs, etc.
