A question not enough people are asking is how SMNI is still operational after getting pulled off the public airwaves by the NTC. We know from the shutdown of ABS-CBN's frequencies that running a TV stations without significant viewers isn't cheap. ABS had to drastically scale back their operations, and that's with them still having Lopez funding and other sources of income like deals with Netlfix or owning The Filipino Channel overseas. No free-tv access via the Channel 2 frequency means reduced ratings and reduced advertising money, leading ABS-CBN to make cuts within a year of them going off-air. Now, how does SMNI and the "church" running it subsidise a 24/7 TV station that is almost certainly losing money due to them not having access to free-tv? If ABS-CBN has the Lopez Group of Companies to subsidise its loss, who is paying the hundreds of millions a year to keep SMNI running? ๐ค Running a TV station isn't cheap. Who's keeping SMNI's lights on and why?
