Happy 155th birthday to the great James Braid! The five-time Open Champion was invited by the Club in February 1929 to make changes to the course as the architect. He is pictured here (left) with Cyril Newton on the 17th in 1929.

The par-3 fifth offers two distinct challenges: from the left-hand tee, it plays straight towards the Irish Sea, while the right-hand tees hug the coast and plays straight over the greenside bunker. Wind and pin positions add even more variety.

A big feature of the links is how it draws you out to the coast with views across the Irish Sea, before winding back through the rollercoaster of duneland throughout. Our third green combines both of these qualities.

Winter works: More great work by John and his team, enhancing the par 3 ninth with a larger teeing area and grass pathways. These improvements will offer more options for day-to-day play, enhance the hole's aesthetic, and improve the flow between the eighth and tenth holes.

Winter works: Adding a new grass path to connect the first green, second tee, and second fairway. It will create a cohesive and visually striking area. This spot is especially significant as it's where Dr. Frank Stableford invented the scoring system we all enjoy today.

The beautifully contoured 13th green and the 16th, perched in the dunes above, show off their expanses of short grass which create a myriad of shot options, improves playability, and is a lot more fun.

Two common sights from the terrace: the tee shot on the 10th as players begin their inward nine, and the approach shots into the 18th, as golfers make their way home along the undulating terrain.
