@asd_agn @MTabarrok Those who think Paris is a model to follow are generally those who don’t live in Europe

@zach_pinto @MTabarrok We’re already there, most cities in Europe aren’t like Paris. Vancouver’s population density is higher than Amsterdam’s and Toronto and Montreal are comparable to Zurich and Vienna.

@Jill1Sweden EU treaties don’t allow non-European countries, but Canada could strengthen economic ties with an agreement similar to the European Economic Area that is more comprehensive than our current free trade agreement (CETA).

@EricDLombardi The only feasible way is through federal override, provincial transmission fees would violate the constitution.

@davzhao Canada won’t get better, it’d require massive cultural change and the people aren’t willing to change. Blind patriotism doesn’t pay the bills, but no one wants to accept reality.

@MerrowMan1 @JamesSurowiecki @SuperMAGA17 @RasmusJarlov @DanishMFA @POTUS 🇨🇦 would be worse than joining the US. Greenland is a developed country, Nunavut is like a third world country. Canadians don’t genuinely care about the arctic, most can’t pronounce ‘Iqaluit’ correctly even though it’s a territorial capital.

@EricDLombardi 100% agree, as much as 🇨🇦 has major economic issues today, essentially 🇺🇸 is leveraging the USD as a tool to have the rest of the world finance their domestic inflation and spending

@PaulFrail @KatKanada_TM QC can use historical precedent to claim Crown lands (Ireland, S. Africa) since Canada never patriated them. Reserve and treaty land would be a bigger problem though.

@ElizabethMay @CanadianGreens @j_pedneault I totally support this! Laws shouldn’t be enforced. Out of curiosity, how many trees would I need to plant before I can rob a bank with no consequences? Also, if I drive a small hybrid and take transit whenever possible, do I get crime credits for my climate-friendly behaviour?

@lorianebird @DhallaRuby Do I need to allow criminals and human traffickers roam free to be Canadian enough for you? Do we abolish the entire Criminal Code because we’re in Canada and not the US?

@TWoffers @DhallaRuby Not illegals hun. We have plenty of legal migration programs in this country.

@EricDLombardi True but I’d argue it’s not a fair compression when the US can use deficit spending in a way we can’t without negative economic repercussions because of their currency.

@Mike_R_White @EricDLombardi It is our problem because people willing to illegally cross into the US shouldn’t be in Canada in the first place.

@I_am_mr_patriot @KirkLubimov This is the correct answer. Jagmeet Singh’s confidence agreement wasn’t just about ‘pharma’ or ‘dental care’ it was about preventing deportations and issuing visas to millions of individuals who would otherwise not qualify.

@MsJamshidi This is very reasonable, if the US doesn’t have direct flights to the country they fled from, and they reach the US through a third country, they’re no longer a refugee. The US can return them to a third safe country as per international law.

@MsJamshidi It’s not a blanket deportation order, the text is very clear. They need a reason to enforce a removal order, like non complying with the terms of the visa. This seems more of a compliance audit than anything else.
