At the moment I'm needing regular doses of this video. If anyone is in any doubt, this is why fighting to save @WarrenFarmNR matters.

Just back from the Mayor’s “Face of Ealing Community Concert” It was so good to see a showcase for talented young people and an event which embraced the truly wide diversity of Ealing. More like this please helping to foster local talent @EalingCouncil !

@WriterHannahBT So cold and wet this morning that I didn’t see a single bird until I crossed to the other side of London where a flock of jackdaws crowded the roofs. It’s an area usually filled with birdsong but theirs were the only calls today. #FirstBirdOfMyDay

A grim day out there today. Got drenched twice and pelted with hail but I do like the way stone pavements hold reflections in wet weather.

@WriterHannahBT Waited a bit for my first bird this morning. Although sunny, it was quiet, maybe because of the frosty start. A pair of wood pigeons were hunched in a neighbour’s tree. Then the parakeets broke the silence. #FirsrBirdOfMyDay

@WriterHannahBT “Chattering black ink spill”! I’m missing my Pembrokeshire jackdaw flocks but we’ll be back soon. Such an amazing sound at dawn and dusk as they fly out to the estuary and then back to roost, like something from an early video game.

RT @vrw123: Also make sure any garden ponds have sloping sides/steps/ramps to allow hedgehogs to escape if they enter the water.

@WriterHannahBT It was a robin again, heralding the morning. There only seems to be one this year without rival song. Today he was accompanied less melodiously, by the repetitive calls of a great tit. #FirstBirdOfMyDay.

@arealmofwonder I’m relating to C - solastalgia today, particularly in relation to the River Brent, which can be beautiful when clean but suffers horribly from sewage, road runoff, litter and other pollution which is making it stink like a drain whenever there’s heavy rain.

@WriterHannahBT A ring necked parakeet high on the street rowan, adding a splash of green on a grey day. Garden littered with pigeon feathers this morning. Fox probably, we have a family of urban foxes nearby. #FirstBirdOfMyDay

@WriterHannahBT A wood pigeon was my #FirstBirdOfMyDay too, on a quick flypast. Later, on @WarrenFarmNR a skylark launched into a brief display, rising a few feet towards the sun, flexing voice and wing. So good to see them back,

@WriterHannahBT Grey again here and the birds seem to hate still grey days as much as I do. My total of birds so far is a robin singing in someone else’s garden and a passing crow #FirstBirdOfMyDay

@WriterHannahBT @sehtaceo Fantastic! It’s years since I last saw a yellowhammer. Their “little bit of bread and no cheese” song featured a lot in my childhood.
