Curious how the scientific community feels about quality vs quantity as it relates to grant submissions. Given how a single reviewer's opinion can mean the difference between funded or not, which strategy is better? #GrantWriting #Research #Reviewer3isTheWorst

@wanderer_jasnah Yes, apparently someone had nothing better to do with their time and I’m rarely on the platform so didn’t notice till now.

While not cited, this group corroborated our published work showing that #LongCovid patients demonstrate a sustained interferon signature in the olfactory bulb (which can also be seen in the golden hamster model of long COVID). vs

Thrilled to share our first collab with one of my many amazing @nyulangone colleagues, @JefBoeke, describing an innovative approach to create Genetically Engineered Mouse Models (GEMMs) used here to render mice naturally susceptible to #SARSCoV2.

Such a great meeting. A community of scientists who share a passion for RNA and virus biology. Beautiful science, thoughtful questions, and lots of informative discussions. #EMBOeukRNA23
#EMBOeukRNA23 is currently underway in @IntrBrno @brnoregion. @SVanacova started with a welcome speech followed by a keynote lecture by Benjamin tenOever @virusninja. Great start 👏 looking forward to the next interesting topics and discussions

It was an honor to be on @DoctorRadio today with @DrMarcSiegel. Thank you for the opportunity to discuss what I love the most - viruses. #LoveVirology @SiriusXM
Coming up at 3pm East, @DrMarcSiegel chat s with @virusninja (Director of the Institute of Virology at NYU) about #LongCovid & other research.

Sometimes, the best defense against infection is a clever decoy. Kudos to my amazing colleague Ned @landaulab_nyu for his groundbreaking work on developing an ACE2 decoy as a therapeutic for all variants of #SARSCoV2. See write-up @NIH

New study from the lab showing how a delayed IFN-I response enables #SARSCoV2 viremia, possibly explaining non-pulmonary symptomatology, including #LongCOVID. Beautiful work by @LuciaCarrau et al.

Stay tuned for more #COVID insights informed by our hamster model including #COVIDToe and conditions that result in #SARSCoV2 viremia.
🆕 @scisignal Towards explaining #LongCovid pain: Compared w/ flu in experimental model, #SARSCoV2 non-infectious transcripts persist in neural tissue and induce mechanical hypersensitivity @VannaZachariou @ra_serafini @virusninja

Excited to join former Maniatis members in celebrating Tom's birthday at this event. Tom is an exceptional mentor, a champion for his trainees, and an amazing scientist. The world definitely needs more Toms to continue inspiring future generations of researchers.
Join us in this journey to the birth of molecular biology through the history of the one and only Tom Maniatis!!!

Our latest research with @VannaZachariou sheds light on the neurological impacts of non-infectious #SARS-CoV-2 RNA deposition in the dorsal root ganglia - shedding light on a possible driver of #NeuroPASC. Amazing work by @ra_serafini and @Justin_Frere

@casanova_lab Viruses of our present time maybe... Other ISGs may reflect defenses to older viruses. Supported by Trim5 alpha and retroviruses.
