ppl forcing that "big jock and tiny twink" thing on every gay ship even if thats not their dynamic at all... yall get that's exactly that fetisizing we always talk abt
I love how OFMD isn't about two middle aged men finding out they're gay and being shocked and in denial. Ed has ex lovers that are men. He has always known. Stede was shocked he found love, not because it was a man.
#OurFlagMeansDeath
Stede freaked out when Ed shaved, became emotionally vulnerable and was folding stuff.
Not because he disliked it.
Because Ed was turning to be more like HIM. Which, he had been told his whole life; was wrong way of being. He thought he ruined him.

About ofmd s2:
I'm honestly emotional so forgive me - but really, we aren't used to seeing love like this on media.
Things Ed & Stede are struggling with are actually so close to real life that we have trouble recognizing them in media.
1/10
"Now that I've turned 40 I realise nobody knows anything.
Like seriously, nobody knows anything. Everyone thinks they're an expert but no one knows anything.
I'm really no wiser than I was when I was 19."
Through his life he just did what felt good at the moment. What he enjoyed. None of that "work hard and you get what you want".
He didn't have a fucking plan. No one of us has; no matter how much we tell ourselves or others that we do.
If Taika's story leaves us with anything it's: just go through your life, do what sounds fun at the moment.
You might get lucky or not, but that's not what matters. Just try to make most of your time here.
Your love matters, won it oscars or not. Those are just pieces of metal.
He grew poor, in New Zealand. Saved teddy bears from trash cans, learned moonwalk and was more interested in characters than real people. He did what he liked and he did ALOT.
He wasn't pressured to be succesful.
He did art, and visual art was what he wanted to do in his life. He NEVER thought he'd be a filmmaker. Just "maybe an actor, some day", but not more than that.
No bc Stede Bonnet is possibly the most relatable character to me ever like the "try to please everybody until you hurt everybody" -trope?? fucking oUCH?
I see one more headline saying OFMD is "Taika Waititi's series" I'm gonna commit a crime like if u wanna use his name so badly at least don't make it seem like he created the whole thing 😭
In the series Stede panics every time he is about to die.
But what if later on Ed points at him with his sword and Stede goes, absolutely unfazed: "Go ahead. If you don't want my heart, it has no use anyway".

And now we know him as the future of cinema.
He has inspired many, made us view media and art in ways we haven't before.
His ideas, his enthusiasm and need for something new have made us see the world around us just so slightly different.
But every change starts small.
He had friends who made films and they sparked his interest.
He didn't do his first short film before the age of 30. Another side project. Another thing that inspired him. Nothing more.
Though it got nominated for an oscar. Because it was fucking good.
Ppl got the weirdest beef with Taika Waititi.
"Ugh jewish guy acting imaginary H¡tler?"
"He is part of many projects that have LGBTQ respresentation and now yall dare to RECOGNIZE him for it??"
"Um he and Tessa Thompson kissed as two consensual adults?!"
He hit through in his fourties.
With talent? Yeah that had a part in it.
Passion? Maybe.
Also the fact that the film making process makes him grit his teeth at times and he wants to call it quits? Yes, probably.
Luck? Absolutely.
But he had fallen in love with writing. He wrote two movies "Boy" and "Eagle vs. Shark".
Both are amazing films, but neither were huge successes around the globe.
Which never was his point. He did what was fun. Asked his friends in and went for it.
Points for OFMD for having such well written and hilariously realistic characters that are actually relatable and not just caricatures of one personality trait.

Its not intentional ofc but pls there must be SOMEONE else who giggled bc u have watched a certain™️ show™️ famous for queerbaiting™️ in ur teens
... and now the show that is healing all of ur bad memories, throws a violin OF ALL THINGS into a guy's face 💀💀😭😭
He didn't "work hard for his dreams". He never throws around lines like that.
"I don't have life advice or wisdom. I'm just one of the lucky ones to have survived this long".
"I never wanted to be a filmmaker. I still, sometimes, think I got sidetracked".
He did what he enjoyed, took opportunities and simply: lived his life.
He never tried to push through. He never wanted to be what he is today.
This wasn't his dream. Did he even have one? Who knows.
But never has he said "just do what you love and you can get anywhere" because that's not true.
He got lucky and he knows it himself. No amount of talent or passion will stand a chance when it comes to luck.
When he talks about his films, scripts or roles, he never acts like it's the focus of his life. His long lived dream that got through just because he believed.
He just mingled through life while doing these funny projects he enjoyed. And some that he didn't.
See usually it's easy. Man is always upgraded with a beard. Like oh a sexy man. Add beard? 💥🔥☄️🌪🎉 INCLUDING TAIKA WAITITI.
but them that same mf played Edward Teach and something happened and I have lost my sense of identity because HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO CHOOSE
"Rhys Darby isn't hot you just have daddy issues" no I just found out he is nice and funny and the nicer someone is the more attractive they get?
(so he gets hotter every passing day thanks for asking it's science)
They both got told that the way they chose to live their lives was wrong.
That the choises that felt right - actually weren't.
And they believed.

Stede had power over smth the first time in his life. For the first time, he wasn't the outcast. He had some credibility. He got praise and admiring looks.
He couldn't resist it. This is everything his inner child desperately longs for.
Stede thought he ruined Ed. Made him soft. So he thought Ed would be better off without him.
Now Ed thinks he ruined Stede. Made him a murderer. He thinks Stede is bet- *GUNSHOTS* *SCREAMING* *SIRENS*

But the way we actually GOT TO see Izzy's healing & why he suddenly is fine with Ed and Stede.
The whole symbolism with the "I have no leg, so I cut off yours" -arc.
Suddenly he realizes he doesn't have to take away from others to feel better himself.

i find this promo pic so funny bc it gives NOTHING. You could have NEVER guessed what the show ended up being about. It's fucking cryptic. They are barely in character. It's fucking hilarious.

Taika Waititi confirmed he would dropkick a transphobe I know this is a small thing and it's just one like but it means so much I'm sobbing just a bit.
Reminder that this is a _romcom_ and David has said he hates welling on drama™️ too much - so chill with your horror scenarios our pirates will be fine 😌❤️

No bc will this be their final flag?? 😭😭❤️❤️ Bc it's Stede Bonnet's flag's layout but the heart is red like in Blackbeard's flag. And then instead of a skull there is a cat? I'm sobbing real hard now guys
