even if your IGL has really insane mid-round calling skills, the rest of you should still be able to make calls based on your reads. what if your IGL is having a really off game, or he's frustrated at losing rounds in ways you've reviewed but it still happens? relying on (1/3)

Don’t let this distract you from the fact that FaZe Clan blew a 15-11 lead...
In all seriousness, this news means our lineup will go down as the only all-american team to have ever won a CS:GO major across 11 YEARS! Yes, I checked all the lineups in the upcoming RMR
one person for information processing when they can only be in one place at a time isn't ideal in a team game. that being said, just because you can make calls as a player doesn't mean you have to. read the flow of the game and if you sense that your IGL is in the zone, (2/3)
let them do their thing and shift into a mindset where you are enhancing their calls instead of making them. in order to make this happen, you need reps in practice where you are trying this. being proactive just when matches roll around is also not the right approach. glhf (3/3)
If you're in a position to give a lot of advice, you might find it hard to take advice yourself. Generally, it's due to thinking that you work harder or know more than your peer group. You might also be in the wrong when giving certain feedback to others, and that compounds (1/2)
Welcome
@FNS
to the team! It has been exciting to see you grow as a leader over the years, and I'm confident that this is your time to shine. Send some love to
@compLexity
who has shown tremendous growth this year.
for CSGO tournaments, there are 2 pre-reqs that should be met when deciding on venue/hotel/practice rooms:
- players should be able to play FPL with <60 ping
- hotel wifi should be >=5mbps, and if not, event organizers should provide mobile hotspots or install their own network
I have nothing but great things to say about
@tarik
. I had a great time figuring out our team together with you. It's not often one can say that even when losing there are reasons to be hopeful-- you were definitely one of those reasons. Best of luck and see you soon!

the fear of putting in max effort, and still falling short, is a big source of anxiety for many. do yourself a favor, and get acquainted with the feeling of failure early in your life. knowing failure is what makes overcoming it feel great. success isn't supposed to feel neutral
gossiping exists everywhere in life, including in team sports. don't pick up people and expect to change them-- ensure you want to play with them despite what you've heard. your expectations and sanity will thank you, and you'll subconsciously contribute to a better team dynamic
well done to the boys and especially
@FNS
for staying composed throughout the series.
@Cloud9
vs
@FaZeClan
is becoming the most entertaining matchup in CS even though it’s not usually pretty :)
pay attention to how much you verbalize your negativity. if you're the type to warn others about all possible ways this round can be lost (i.e. "stay back. don't die to pistols again"), then if something negative happens, you also should be ready to help your team reset. (1/2)
if you truly want to be the best of the best, you have to learn how to do things that aren't predictable. in-game, it's easiest to counter the current meta. so does that mean you and your team should constantly be going against the grain in order to win? herein lies an (1/5)
the most consistent players (over a long time horizon) are blissfully unaware-- by choice. that doesn't mean they haven't put in countless hours of work to get to that point (although some haven't). being selectively ignorant in a competitive setting actually helps you (1/4)

being nationalistic has always been a funny concept to me. we didn't choose where we were born or where we grew up. we only choose where we live and who we identify with later in life, but some people become fiercely defensive over things they had no control over. that's comedy
Some thoughts to get you started with the right mindset for 2023
Aggressive players: do something wild, but as late into the round as possible-- will help you self-regulate
Passive players: you can get info and go for kills, and STILL be considered a cautious player

A couple months ago in one of

CS:GO is the only big esport title where teams don't share replays from practice games between those two teams (unlike LoL and Dota2 where both teams have access). this isn't a technical limitation-- it's a culture thing of trying to 'hide' things. maybe it's time to change?
As we near the off-season,

only 2 teams,
@natusvincere
and
@Envy
, have >=50% T round win rate in relevant LAN events in the HISTORY of CS:GO. in this current CT-heavy meta, that might give you an indication of which T playstyles are worth exploring. slow vs explosive... which one will your team choose?
negatively with your inability take criticism. Your peers will start to zone you out and not take you as seriously unless you become more open to two-way conversations. In order to be a good teacher, you need to be patient and understand you also have something to learn (2/2)
if you're unwilling to hear any criticism and say so, at least you don't waste more time than the conversation took and there is a next step. the real time sink are the folks that nod yes to everything they hear, but then take no action or ignore the feedback... infinite loop

even after winning 3 majors and countless events, amazing to see
@MagiskCS
celebrate making the major like that. the importance of having teammates like that can't be overstated. as his teammate, you have no choice but to be motivated by someone like that
when you achieve something big, they put a plaque on the wall. this is a subtle reminder that these moments are temporary. that plaque can come down at any moment... just held up by some screws, after all. you now have to fight to keep it there. cherish the moment, not the memory
imagine this: you've made the playoffs of an event. no one in the same stage will practice with you, understandably. teams that were eliminated will be taking a break, understandably. but wait... you have your own set of teams you can conduct internal practice with
#LIVEEVIL
if
@TeamLiquid
digs deep and pulls through in a close game at this stage of the major, it will help their mindset a lot going into playoffs. grinding a game out is the most difficult thing to "remember" coming off a break and this will kick them back into gear
this event showed me a lot about how our team carries themselves under pressure. an amazing debut from

When we moved from India back in '95, we were struggling to adapt to western culture. Something resonated with us when Kobe joined the Lakers a few months later. My brother and I grew up looking up to our parent's and Kobe's determination. Thank you Kobe-- we will miss you
It was a pleasure coaching

Some folks have issues with lacking empathy, but too much empathy is also a big problem for others. They end up with little to no time for themselves in the race to care for others. If you're constantly processing information, you definitely can't reflect on it all (1/2)
Had a great Friday with my colleagues, our CSGO squad, and the wonderful Coach Carter.
A nice takeaway from listening to him: in group discussions, letting the room breathe and taking pauses is a sign of respect and creates for better conversation. If you're jumping at the (1/3)
elimination matches at majors are always exciting because you get all-in CS. true character comes out in these moments, so we’ll see you guys again tomorrow :)
when you've invested your time and energy into teaching someone, you're more likely to get upset if they don't show understanding. sometimes it's not them-- you feel like you failed and you'd rather react than change your approach. show patience, and earn their respect forever
in order to excel at your profession now, and stay great at it for a long time, you have to love the ENTIRETY of what you're doing and not just when things are going great. it's not going to work if because you practice every day, you're only happy when you hit every shot, (1/3)
