The marketisation of higher ed in India reaches new heights! At Presidency (a state university), I paid less than Rs 1800 (~ £17) *per year* in tuition and had the best UG education. Now rich kids are attending private universities for Rs 1,100,000 (~£10,500) a year!
As someone who studied in one of the top colleges of Delhi University and paid an annual fee of about Rs 2,000-3,000 (and received excellent education); it is beyond my comprehension that new universities/ ‘top institutes’ charge a fee of Rs 11 LAKH PER ANNUM for Liberal Studies!
