The INHALE-1 study, chaired by @HallerMichael , reported top line results this week demonstrating that the inhaled insulin, Afrezza, was non-inferior to rapid analogue injected insulin in children and adolescents with diabetes. These data will be used to submit a request to the FDA to extend the label for pediatric use potentially giving children yet another option for personalizing their diabetes management. A new study published today in @DiabetesCareADA shows the ECHO Diabetes program led to significant improvements in health outcomes and increases in technology use for medically underserved people with Type 1 Diabetes and Type 2 Diabetes across Florida and California. A new consensus statement on screening and staging for Type 1 Diabetes in children and adolescents has been released by the International Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Diabetes (ISPAD) this week. A new study published by @BBruggMD and collaborators from the UFDI provides further evidence that the exocrine pancreas is impacted in the early stages of T1D and that we should be evaluating exocrine biomarkers in every aspect of T1D prevention and treatment. Click here to read more
