You can easily say from your offices that 1:3 staffing ratios in ITU is acceptable, because you are in your office. Try caring 3 Level 3 patients when each one is going off,desat, hypotension, peri arrest when you only have TWO HANDS.
I’ll see you again ITU. Im sorry but the pandemic working kinda broke this nurse and needs to heal mentally. 😞🥲. It happened to me, it can happen to anyone,it is happening to someone. Please ask for help, it is available.

We are far from normal. We need to protect our loved ones the most. We don’t know how long this window will last , so let’s all be safe and be sensible. Things change quickly. We need to support each other.
1/2 Going 2 weeks since Im offsick due to mental health reasons. I have slowly reclaimed myself and nursed the nurse. It was hard first letting go of the control specially being an ITU Nurse but Iam finding that peace and recovery that I needed. 💙
The boys with our Ate in ITU.
Us: Can we take your photo and post it?
Her: Yes! Will I be famous after this?
Our beacon of hope in ITU, we thought we’d lose her in many days but she survived and leaving us!

Well done ITU! Cant help being teary eyed as we wheel them out of Intensive Care!

My heart! 💞 135k came out to support the only woman running for presidency in The Philippines. We are done being ran by shite, misogynistic, corrupt men! Herstory in the making!

6 years ago as part of the pioneer overseas nurses, started as Band 3 (pre-PIN), and now Band 7 in our specialties. 💙
Shout out to these angels of the sickest room (ICU) who worked through hell week (Christmas Week). It was tough, we’re stretched and challenged but we still worked as a team. We carried on and dealt with it.

The volcano in my hometown is erupting, Mayon Volcano. It’s scary but beautiful at the same time. Ive seen it erupt multiple times and the word is enigmatic. Literally this emoji ➡️ 🌋
Well, guess it’s out there. Look mom, my face is in the BBC.
It’s been a whirlwind of emotion during this pandemic for us ICU Nurses and coping is still hard-and still ongoing.

This is Ate Noraida now. Before she was in ICU in Homerton for 4 months and we almost thought we’d lose her multiple times. Now, she looks amazing and as if nothing happened! What an ICU Legend! 💙
PS. We’re all vaxxed and swabbed before meeting her. x
Our redeployed ITU Sisters are leaving us now. Thankyou for always coming back to your first home. 💙 Please get some rest before you go back to your roles. We will always be grateful.

Hi Janey! Iam an itu nurse for the nhs, I have to pay the surcharges to use the NHS which ironically I work for and pay all my taxes like any regular brit.
Thank you

@CEOHomerton
for inviting me to represent ICU in our Memorial Day. It was a raw,emotional and moving moment for me,bringing back memories of loss, so much loss,and heartbreak. But by doing this, we keep their memories alive. 💙
Some of our younger aged patients have died.
Some our older aged patients are dying.
It just reeks of death everyday. This is literally a battlefield in ICU just to keep everyone alive. Nurses are tired, TIRED! Do your bit people!
12 years of ICU coming to an end!
Half of that in
@NHSHomerton
ICU & it’s been a roller coaster but mostly happy memories! Thank you my OG ITU family 💖But not leaving the trust,Extremely happy to say that Im joining the Tissue Viability Services-another passion of mine! 🥺🥹
3 months post covid surge, post mental health break. Working back in ITU,Iam better mentally, got my groove again, no panic attacks, not triggered as much, still with sad days but things looking better. 💙
@TalkChanges
helped me with that.
They all had 1:3 Nursing ratios in ICU. They had a busy Nurse In Charge Shifts. But they are still able to smile for me for this photo. This is why I love our Filipina crew!

2/2 We always say that we are exhausted ,broken down, etc but we dont seek help and continue until we actually break-it’s ok to stop, it’s ok to FOCUS on your own healing, ITS BEEN A YEAR OF CHAOS, you deal with yourself.

This musical week has brought so much joy ( and tears)1got to watch Stephen Sondheim’s: Old Friends-headlined by no one else
@MsLeaSalonga
!The cast was superb! This ode to Sondheim’s best pieces like Sweeney Todd, Into the Woods and West Side story is a marvellous memoir to him!
One of the highlights of my 2021! ❤️ To watch
@Adele
in an intimate concert where she invited frontline workers like us! She’s bloody amazing and we were crying! Lost my voice from singing along!
So Im with my brother now!Done with their quarantine.He’s flown all the way from The Philippines to work as a Theatre Nurse in UK. Sooo nice to have family here. ❤️
Happy Pride month! Iam proud to say that Homerton ITU is the most loving and open unit there can be! And everyone supports the LGBTQIA staff members.

Experience Loss. My bit of the poem dedicated to all we’ve lost in this pandemic during our Memorial Day. I think I dread the day going to the Covid Memorial Wall because of the amount of loss I have experienced in the past year & might break down.

A glorious momentous and all the word ending in tous event for me. After 10 months of dealing with Covid 19 in Intensive Care, Ive got the vaccine! A glimpse of hope to end this pandemic and to protect myself working in the frontline and those I care for.

Achievement is when your non-believer Covid patient finally believes he has Covid and shares education about it to his community. Especially when everyone in his bay got tubed and died infront of him. I dont know if one would still be a non believer.

Ultimately the hospital can run without you but if you shatter, you can’t replace yourself. If you need help, please talk to someone. Give yourself some of the compassion you give your patients. Like Miss Universe, we all need to use our platform – now this is my advocacy!
Feels like life is looking normal innit? But on the flipside with almost 2 years into it, we’re still dealing with Covid in the frontline in ICU. This is the non glamorous bit of my life where I deal with the depressing stuff and literally people’s life is in your hand.

@NursingTimes
@KWebbNurse
When you’ve worked in ITU during Covid and got PTSD from it- it is time to make a change and improve our NHS and the blood of it-the nurses.
My support group. Also, theyre rocking the headcaps I gave them. We need more of these caps actually, anyone interested donating them? The more colourful, the better!

I was later dealing with PTSD, panic attacks, anxiety and depression. I felt so guilty taking time off to heal until my therapist said “I am giving you permission to take care of yourself” Remember, you can’t pour from an empty cup.
Being in Charge of numerous Critically Ill Covid patients is a feat that will tear you to pieces.I dont know where to get energy from anymore. The dilution is draining ICU Nurses at an exponential rate.
