We just dropped Typst 0.11: It includes better tables, user-defined templates, and more flexible ways to automate your document. Also launching today is Typst Universe. This is a beautiful page to explore packages and templates for Typst.
i love typst so much. finding typst in my senior year as a math major freed up hundreds of hours to talk to girls instead of waiting for overleaf to crash
So we have this e-paper display in our hallway that shows how many 🌟 stars we got on GitHub. And this morning – EXACTLY 30,000. WOW THANK ALL OF YOU SO MUCH ❤️❤️❤️
As we are blowing up in this post's mentions, let me share a few CV templates for Typst. Read on if you never again want to decipher LaTeX logs before applying to jobs:
Worst decision I ever made was writing my resume in LaTeX. Every time I want to apply for a job I put it off because I know I'll have to deal with inscrutable build errors. This has likely cost me tens of thousands of dollars in lost income
Quite a few new featured packages on Universe, but why don't you start your weekend with a game of "soviet-matrix"? Look for it in the Typst app or try `typst init` in the CLI!
The Typst web app is now available On Premise!

Today is Package Thursday!
Use polylux by Andreas Kröpelin to create slideshows in Typst. Include all the tables, math, code from your papers, now for the big stage! 📽️
At Typst, we believe that a intuitive UX is essential for technical writing. Poor user interfaces cause issues. Case in point: today, our website was down for 6 hours due to confusing UX. 🧵
In September
@overleaf
reduced the limit for compile time-outs and restricted the # of collaborators for free users. As my university does not provide institutional accounts, almost none of my projects compile anymore in a reasonable amount of time.
Suggestions or alternatives?
It's Package Thursday! 📦 (we're making it a thing)
Today, check out commute by giacomogallina which enables you to draw mathematical commutative diagrams. Use it in Typst today:
Physicists can make Typst their own with Physica: The package includes handy shortcuts for common operators, signal sequence diagrams, and more:

I'm writing my next 2 Technical Specifications for C in typst (the Callable Functions one (Lambdas + Nested Functions + Statement Expressions) and the Spans one (ptr + size language built-in structure)).
So yeah, I have heard of it and I'm excited to get away from LaTex!!!

The burden of reformatting is real if your tools don’t support you. Typst eliminates it with smart templates and a formatting system you can actually understand
I wish as academics we could focus on producing evidence and not waste time reformatting. I am glad this has now been quantified. But I would like to think these may reflect a lower bound on the true cost as there is an extensive margin as well.
I have a whole trail of perfectly
"the typesetting future" nails it. couldn't have put it better myself. as someone who's written a 170-page thesis in typst, i'm never going back to latex. typst is ready for prime time. huge time saver with clear error messages, instant compilation and powerful scripting
Want to get more out of Typst? Our new subscription, Typst Pro, extends Typst with powerful new features. From presentation mode to more storage, there’s something for everyone. We’ll post threads about each feature in Typst Pro in the coming days.
I always forget where I put my stuff - cannot happen with variables & functions in Typst anymore, though. Just hold ctrl and click and we show you where you defined it!

@typstapp
my saviour
You can and should use typst for genuinely any academic or professional essay/report it's so worth learning and the impression it makes when compared to a typical .docx is... wow
plus native pdf means NO MORE USING BUGGY CONVERTERS IT'S SO PRETTY
Author order on academic papers is important!
My Google friends and I spent lots of time thinking about this critical issue (the scores of our ICML submissions show this is time well spent)
We distill our findings for the community here:

Typst
@typstapp
has just merged a PR that adds functionality for typesetting line numbers. This is huge, IMO: it’s the last missing feature to make *ACL templates for Typst.
I’ve been using Typst for a few months now and can totally see myself writing conference papers with it!
I'm crying after using
@typstapp
for the first time. Everything is so much simpler, faster, and intuitive than latex. No more backslash before every symbol. Divide in equations with /. Vectors and matrices as functions. Text in equations with quotes.
What a time to be alive.
The
@typstapp
is great for creating PDFs with specific needs, such as placing multiple images on the same page. I like it! So does my wife, she doesn't need to repeat the same action in msword anymore.
I'm working with co-authors, and will have to write in LaTeX for the first time in I don't know how long, and I'm not looking forward to it (... the LaTeX part, because the project is cool). 🙃
Might have something to do with the tools used to write papers. In LaTeX, you need like five lines of code to define and change a color. Meanwhile, in Typst, these are available templates: (and not too hard to do something like this yourself)
With the Typst update that has just gone live, we have completely revamped math mode and more: For example, we now support multiline math and alignments in formulas. 1/5
