I think our industry is ready for a resurgence of simple programming. I feel like a lot of modern software is a Rube Goldberg machine, frameworks on top of libraries, embedding in frameworks based on every changing libraries. The art of straightforward architecture has been lost

So early in my career, I put my name in all my code files. Years later I came across some code that had my name in it, but it was a butchered horrible chimera file, that only had a bit of my code. I stopped putting my name in my code after that

I have an aversion to proving that I'm innocent, and if I won't do it, I won't ask my team to do it. It's not complicated IMO. Managers are generally lazy and risk-averse, that's why I prefer the term "leader"

The key IMO is to designate 1 or more seasoned mentors. Someone responsible for their progress. Of course, the whole team helps out, but it's important to say "Maria, would you be Tom's mentor?". Regardless if the company is remote or not

I want to create a new OS that forces proper UI design through its API. You literally can't do stuff without providing the "no data state", the "error state", etc. Dialogs that contain all the options as checkboxes, when required options are complete only then can you submit, etc
