You might be wondering why there is a 10% tax rate for the earnings between 8L and 12L even though the finance minister emphasized "no tax" up to 12L.🤔 Let's break this down with an example. Suppose a person earns 16L per annum. In this case, the total tax payable would be ₹1,20,000. Here's how it works:💸 1. **0-4L**: No tax (₹0) 2. **4-8L**: Taxed at 5%. So, on this 4L, the tax will be 5% of ₹4,00,000 = ₹20,000.💵 3. **8-12L**: Taxed at 10%. So, on this 4L, the tax will be 10% of ₹4,00,000 = ₹40,000. 4. **12-16L**: Taxed at 15%. So, on this 4L, the tax will be 15% of ₹4,00,000 = ₹60,000.💰 Total tax: ₹20,000 + ₹40,000 + ₹60,000 = ₹1,20,000.💸 So, **don’t assume** that if you earn 16L, there will be no tax on the first 12L, and only the remaining 4L will be taxed. This is incorrect.❌ Note: For earnings **up to 12L**, the tax is effectively zero via rebate form. Rebate limit is 60000.💸
